QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop 2025 Released

@rafael laquindanum

In October 2024 Intuit has released a major update (R9) for QuickBooks 2024 Enterprise. It appears that this is their final decision not to release QuickBooks 2025 Enterprise.

QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop 2025 Released

New releases never have been this late in the 22 years that I have used Quickbooks.  I asked someone at QB's in early October when I might be able to get 2025 and was told it would be out late October or early November.  There is no sign of it being release in December from what I can tell. This might be my last year with Quickbooks.

When are we going to get a straight answer from Intuit about the desktop versions of QuickBooks?  Will there be a 2025 version, or will 2024 just continue to be updated?  Is Intuit really going to discontinue the much more reliable, robust, and secure version of their accounting software, and force everyone to use a slow, stripped down cloud based accounting package?

They won't share anything until they release the announcement. Once they decide to discontinue QB Desktop Enterprise, we'll get an announcement by the end of 2026 at the latest. They will support QB Desktop 2024 until May 2027.

We appreciate you contacting us and sharing your concerns about the future of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2025, Jim11141.

As of now, there is no specific time frame for the availability of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 2025. Once it is released, you'll receive newsletters notifying you.

In the meantime, you can refer to this article that helps you update QuickBooks to the latest features and product improvements: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

If you are using QuickBooks Desktop Pro and Premier edition, Intuit's official announcement states that there'll only be a revamp of the software referred to as the QuickBooks 2024 R11_20 launched last November 15, 2024. Therefore, the option to upgrade to QBDT 2025 is unavailable. You'll get in-product update notifications to ensure you have the latest features and security updates.

Additionally, we understand your concern about transitioning to the QuickBooks Online (QBO) platform due to data security concerns. We continuously strive to provide secure solutions, and reassure you that QBO is a secure choice for managing your financial data should you consider it as an option in the future. You can refer to these articles:

So what is the point in renewing the PAP Enterprise Software Bundle next month if there is NO Enterprise 2025 version? I better cancel the subscription prior to renewal.

QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop 2025 Released

QuickBooks has introduced a version of QuickBooks Online targeted at "enterprise" customers. However, while marketed as an enterprise solution, it largely mirrors the standard QBO offering and lacks the robust features typically associated with enterprise-level tools, such as comprehensive inventory and warehouse management found in QuickBooks Desktop.

This development could mark the beginning of a decline in functionality for advanced users, akin to the early days of iPads, which were promoted as PC replacements despite only being capable of handling a fraction of a PC's functionality. The push to transition users to this online model may leave a significant gap in capabilities for those requiring more robust solutions.

But can it handle my over 600 customers and more than 15 years of order/sales history?  I think I'm done. First it was a forced subscription with no really needed 'new' items and now this.  I am really thinking of retiring early, and calling it quits.  Small businesses continue to get hit from nickel and diming to death and this is proof.
Sorry to vent here and everyone has their story but mine is quickly coming to an end.  Even if I don't retire, I WILL NOT RENEW in October 2025 and find some other way to get by.  I already have my accountant working on options for me.

I am trying to export from QBO to Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise 24 in order to import into TurboTax 2024 Business.  I used Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise 24 trial version last year, so it is not letting me use it this year.  With no Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise 25 trial to use, what do I do?

You need to find another PC to install the trial version. If you prefer to run the same trial version on the same PC, you will need a workaround to do so. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.

QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop 2025 Released

Hi there, @WesleyJ78.

I can see how important it is to be able to import QuickBooks Online (QBO) data into Turbo Tax. It's right that importing your QBO file to the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) trial version is used as a workaround to convert your file and import it to TurboTax.

Currently, QBO users no longer need to transfer their data to QBDT as we can now file them within the application. With this, you can get all the expert help you need filing taxes, whether you want to file yourself with help for sole proprietors, S-corps, and partnerships or let us take it off your plate for S-corps and partnerships only.

However, please know that you will need to pay when you e-file. The pricing details are available for reference, then, you can follow the steps below to begin:

  1. Log in to your QBO account.
  2. Navigate to the Taxes menu and select Year-end filing.
  3. You'll be asked for your business type if you haven't saved in your QuickBooks settings. In that, select Continue and choose your business entity.
  4. Click Save and select Start for free.

Depending on your business type, you might need to prepare a few things. For details, check out this article: QuickBooks Live Tax in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, if you still prefer to convert your QBO file to QBDT, you can follow, @Chrea's suggestion about installing the QuickBooks Desktop 2024 trial version to another computer device or uninstall the program from your current PC. You can follow these steps to do so:

  1. Click the Start or Windows icon and select Settings.
  2. Hover your cursor to Apps and click Installed Apps.
  3. Locate the trial version of QBDT and select More or the vertical ellipsis.
  4. Hit Uninstall to finish.

After that, you can reinstall the trial version and start converting your file.

You can check out these materials for your use if you need to resend your QBO data to TurboTax and to understand the restrictions when converting your QBO files to QBDT:

Moreover, QuickBooks provides several payroll reports that offer a detailed view of your employee's gross pay, deductions, and tax data. To learn more about these reports and how to access them, you can visit this article: Run payroll reports.
