In October 2024 Intuit has released a major update (R9) for QuickBooks 2024 Enterprise. It appears that this is their final decision not to release QuickBooks 2025 Enterprise.

New releases never have been this late in the 22 years that I have used Quickbooks. I asked someone at QB's in early October when I might be able to get 2025 and was told it would be out late October or early November. There is no sign of it being release in December from what I can tell. This might be my last year with Quickbooks.
When are we going to get a straight answer from Intuit about the desktop versions of QuickBooks? Will there be a 2025 version, or will 2024 just continue to be updated? Is Intuit really going to discontinue the much more reliable, robust, and secure version of their accounting software, and force everyone to use a slow, stripped down cloud based accounting package?
They won't share anything until they release the announcement. Once they decide to discontinue QB Desktop Enterprise, we'll get an announcement by the end of 2026 at the latest. They will support QB Desktop 2024 until May 2027.
We appreciate you contacting us and sharing your concerns about the future of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) 2025, Jim11141.
As of now, there is no specific time frame for the availability of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise 2025. Once it is released, you will receive newsletters notifying you.

If you are using QuickBooks Desktop Pro and Premier edition, Intuit's official announcement states that there'll only be a revamp of the software referred to as the QuickBooks 2024 R11_20 launched last November 15, 2024. Therefore, the option to upgrade to QBDT 2025 is no longer available. With this, you'll get in-product update notifications to ensure you have the latest features and security updates.
Additionally, we understand your concern about transitioning to the QuickBooks Online (QBO) platform due to data security concerns. We continuously strive to provide secure solutions, and reassure you that QBO is a secure choice for managing your financial data should you consider it as an option in the future. So what is the point in renewing the PAP Enterprise Software Bundle next month if there is NO Enterprise 2025 version? I better cancel the subscription prior to renewal.
QuickBooks has introduced a version of QuickBooks Online targeted at "enterprise" customers. However, while marketed as an enterprise solution, it largely mirrors the standard QBO offering and lacks the robust features typically associated with enterprise-level tools, such as comprehensive inventory and warehouse management found in QuickBooks Desktop.
This development could mark the beginning of a decline in functionality for advanced users, akin to the early days of iPads, which were promoted as PC replacements despite only being capable of handling a fraction of a PC's functionality. The push to transition users to this online model may leave a significant gap in capabilities for those requiring more robust solutions.
But can it handle my over 600 customers and more than 15 years of order/sales history? I think I'm done. First it was a forced subscription with no really needed 'new' items and now this. I am really thinking of retiring early, and calling it quits. Small businesses continue to get hit from nickel and diming to death and this is proof.
Sorry to vent here and everyone has their story but mine is quickly coming to an end. Even if I don't retire, I WILL NOT RENEW in October 2025 and find some other way to get by. I already have my accountant working on options for me.
