My auditors are asking if I have access to the backend database supporting QuickBooks Online as a customer. Could I please get QuickBooks' confirmation to prove to the auditors?

Thanks for your prompt response, yandy0420. I've got information to share when modifying your company's data files without utilizing the QuickBooks program.

As QuickBooks requires real-time recording of transactions and other accounting tasks, all changes needed to your file must be entered into the program. That said, it isn't applicable to make modifications to your data without using the QuickBooks Online application or web version.

Moreover, you'll need to sign in to your online account and consider exporting your QuickBooks data to an Excel file. From there, you can modify and apply specific changes to the information downloaded to your local drive. To help you with the process, you can refer to these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Export data under the Tools column.
  2. Choose which specific data, report, and lists you want to export.
  3. Then, click Export to Excel.

Once done, you'll be prompted with confirmation that the data has been exported.

I'm also sharing this reference for more detailed inputs: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

Additionally, you can run specific reports to help you get detailed data on your business finances and other accounting information.

I'll always be around on this thread if there's anything else you need further assistance with when managing data files in your account. Keep safe and have a great day ahead!

Hello, yandy0420.

I want to ensure that I can offer the best answer to your concern. But I need more information about your goal.

Can you share further details on what you mean by QuickBooks Online Backend Database? Is this a backup copy of your company file? Do you need a document from QuickBooks? What specific data do you need?

I appreciate any information you can share. I'm also looking forward to working with you again.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. This is for the production database supporting QuickBooks Online. As part of the audit, my auditor is trying to see if I can modify my company's QuickBooks Online data without going into QuickBooks Online application, by directly modifying the production data within database supporting QuickBooks Online.

For example, QuickBooks Enterprise data is stored in QBW file and there is no way for me to access the QBW file without using QuickBooks Desktop software, as QBW files are proprietary files created and used exclusively by QuickBooks Desktop software.

I am looking to confirm that I cannot make change to my QuickBooks Online production data directly, without utilizing QuickBooks Online application.
