1099 nec printing error

I'm trying to print 1099 NEC's today.  I'm in Desktop version 2021.  I can go through the entire process of preparing my 1099 to print, but it doesn't print or print preview.  I've updated my file, restarted my computer, done a backup of the client file.  The accounts I'm using are mapped to the NEC form.  I've also tried setting up from File: Printer Setup and receive an error, QB closes.  I've attached the error message, but don't know if it will show.  My printer does work, printed checks, W2s and other forms this morning.

Hopefully someone can help - Please!

Let's get your forms printed, @LottieD.

You'll want to download and run the QuickBooks File Doctor tool from out tool hub. This tool help fix company file issues in QuickBooks Desktop. Let me guide you how.

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.5.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file on your Desktop.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe). Then, follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. When the installation finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
  5. From the launchpad, choose Company File Issues.
  6. Click Run QuickBooks File Doctor.

The scan time depends on your file size. In most cases, it can take up to 5 minutes. Once the scan finishes, open QuickBooks and your company file. Then, try printing your 1099-NEC and W2s again.

For more information about the tool hub, check this out: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

I'm also attaching these articles before for additional reference. It has details to guide you with your tax forms.

1099 nec printing error

Good Morning,

Thank you for your quick response yesterday.  I followed your instructions this morning, running the QB file doctor as directed.  It came back with no errors in my file.

I've tried to print my 1099s again, no response from the printer, also I'm not able to print preview.  Just as a test, I tried to print a 1096 - that printed, so my printer is responding.  I have one other account with 1099s to be printed, I've tried it, the 1099s will not preview or print.

Not sure what is going on, cannot print 1099s in two files, but can print a 1096.  I did try to print a 1099 MISC just in case I had mapped them incorrectly.  The response was I did not have vendors with sufficient payments, hence I do have my accounts mapped correctly.

Do you have any further suggestions?

Thank you,

Lottie

1099 nec printing error

Thanks for keeping us updated about printing 1099 forms, LottieD.

Before we start, please select Send every time you receive the unrecoverable error. The information gathered from this can help Intuit create patch updates to improve the program.

To proceed, you can check how many users are affected by using a different login credential to open the same company file. If the error only happens in one specific user, that user credential might be damaged.

If so, recreate the damaged user. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Company menu.
  2. Select Set Up Users and Passwords, then Set Up Users.
  3. For Enterprise users, go to the Company menu, select User, then Set Up Users and Roles.
  4. Select Add User..., then type the user name and password, then Next.
  5. Do not use the damaged user name.
  6. Customize the user as necessary, then select Finish.
  7. Go to the File menu, then select Close Company/Logoff.
  8. Log in to the company file using the new log-in credential.

I'm adding this link to see and perform other solutions: Unrecoverable Error: General Troubleshooting Steps

Once done, you can print again your 1099 forms.

If you're still getting the error, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Team. They can create a case to find the root cause of the issue.
