Buy now & saveI have a client that uses QB 2019 networked in Multi-user mode. The database is reachable and shared out correctly, the issue I'm having is form time to time is the connection has been lost error with no code or H505 code will display. Either way it requires me to login to the server an run the QB database manager, it completes with out any errors and the users can logon without issue. I know they like to remain logged and not log out at the end of the day, could QB's automatically log you out if remaining idle for a long period of time or I'm I just missing something,
Thanks

Hi there, Pauliej.
One reason that you're prompted with this error could be your Database Server Manager status has stopped. The status should remain Running to avoid it. Though your users are switching company files to the other, it shouldn't cause the error.
Refer to the Solution 2: Check hosting and services in this article that will walk you through how to enable hosting on the server.

Hi, @Anonymous.
Thank you for reaching out in the Community. Let me help share some information about getting the H505 error and how you can fix this.
This error is usually associated with the multi-user hosting setup. You'll need to ensure that all workstations have the Host Multi-User Access under the utility file.
You can perform these following steps first:
If the issue persists, I recommend checking this article for checking hosting and services: Error H101, H202, H303, or H505 when opening your company file.
This should help the users to remain logged in to QuickBooks.
Keep me posted if there's anything else you need or if you have other questions about multi-user mode. I'll always be here to help. Have a good one.
Thanks for the quick response, I need to have the computers in Host multi- use mode because the are sharing\using the same company file at the same time. The issue is that they get an error everyday see attached file and I have to remote into the server to run the database manager to fix the issue and it reports no errors, they don't log out at the end of the day. It just seems that the QB's times out for some reason.
Thank you
All but on computer had host Multi-User Access on, but I that user switches between company files and doesn't require Multi-User Access could this be an issue?

Still getting the same error, now it's progressing. I can open the QB's database manager on the remote server, when I it the dialog box disappears nothing happens.

I'll help you restore the connection, peter_Cpafma.
Connection issues are usually caused by a currupted company file, firewall/folder permission, and unstable connection. To isolate the issue, you'll want to perform these troubleshooting procedures:
If you're still having difficulty accessing the file, you can install QuickBooks Tool Hub. This program will scan your company file and resolve data damages. For the best experience, we recommend using this tool on Windows 10, 64-bit. Here's how to use it:
Once done, run the Quick Fix my File utility:
For additional solutions, I recommend checking out this guide: Error message: Connection Has Been Lost. I'm also adding this article to learn how to fix general problems when your company file won't open: What to do if you can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.
