Let me provide one more step to get rid of the script message, billv.
After listing the domains from the site, you can clear the cache in the Internet Explorer browser. Doing this will delete the error that keeps showing up on the website.
Then, make sure to restart the browser for changes to take effect.
If the same issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Team. They can create a case to isolate the issue. Here's how to contact them:
If you can't get into your product, we can still help. You can Contact Us and we'll get you up and running again.
Leave a comment below if you need additional information about the script message you're getting. I'll be right here to provide additional information about it.
Sure thing!
Open Notepad as an administrator
Open the following file:
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
(note: there is no extension)
In that file, you can override DNS lookups. Use the in-file help and examples to list each scripting domain name to 127.0.0.1. This is the "loopback" IP address that basically means "back to myself."
It will allow those scripting commands to find a "valid" server but not the script files, so there's nothing to run and nothing to error.
Old DNS entries may be cached. If this doesn't work as soon as you save the hosts file, then open a command line as an administrator and type the following:
ipconfig /flushdns
This will clear any cached DNS entries and force your computer to use what's in the hosts file first.
d-d-d-Double Post!
Edited to remove doubling.
Jumping in here. I just performed all steps outlined in this article including the last one. I still continue to receive the error . Thanks in advance.

The simple fact that Inuit is still so far behind that they are demanding that their users make IE their default browser is such an insult to us that it should be made a felony and they should go to jail for even suggesting it. The fact they can even say this without doubling up and crying in utter shame, is a clear demonstration that they absolutely do not care about their users. It is beyond embarrassing.
That fact they do not feel shamed for being this far behind, is all anyone needs to know that they need to find a better company.
And the fact that it's STILL happening in Desktop Pro 2021 is absolutely ridiculous! I think I'm going to switch to Sage - hopefully they actually appreciate their customers and provide decent service!

This definitely shows through their recent price gouging. $400 for QB Desktop!?!?
Searching the term "price gouging":
Price gouging refers to when retailers and others take advantage of spikes in demand by charging exorbitant prices for necessities, often after a natural disaster or other state of emergency. Thirty-nine states, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia have statutes or regulations that defining price gouging during a time of disaster or emergency. In most states, price gouging is set as a violation of unfair or deceptive trade practices law. Most of these laws provide for civil penalties, as enforced by the state attorney general, while some state laws also enforce criminal penalties for price gouging violations.
Ok, back on topic. I had to reinstall a QB 2010 for a customer. Kept getting a script error due to a non existent URL. Luckily it notified me of the faulting script, so I found the file, went to the specified line and deleted URL variable it was trying to access. Worked like a champ.
It's situations like this Intuit is trying to get away from. People using their purchased software for 11+ years. Why do you think they created a subscription based model that renders the software useless after 1 year. That prevents program sharing, which in turn gets them mo'money.
Their QB Pro Plus (1 year subscription model) is now the same price ($150) QB Desktop used to be a few years back. Sure you can still pay the price you used to, but now you can't use it for 11+ years unless you pay $400. If you stick with Pro Plus they want you to pay $1,650 to use it for 11 years. It's mind boggling when you do the math. Now QB with payroll is a whole other money grab.
I called and was told QB no longer supports QB 2013 Pro
That's correct, CFM94.
The system has a service discontinuation policy, wherein every three years, your software will be discontinued. With this, you no longer have access to QuickBooks Desktop Payroll Services, Live Support, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services
If you want to try the latest version, you can check this guide: Latest version of QuickBooks.
I've also added this reference for more information about the policy and how you can upgrade the file: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy and upgrade information.
If you have other questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us.

You can still use it just fine. If it is working for you, you need not upgrade. Do not fall into the Inuit trap of thinking that you have to rebuy the same software over and over again. As long as it works for you, just keep using it.
Yeah but it isn't at the moment. And by what i see there are the same issues with newer versions.
ugh....

Inuit has done almost nothing to the base function of QB in the last 10 years. All they have done is make the program worse and bloated. One of the best versions was 2012. I have 2019 and I had to upgrade my computer to even run it. The program is so bloated that even with a $2,000 gaming computer, it is slow and laggy. But I still do the same exact thing on it that I did on 2012, that I ran with no issues on a budget $300 laptop.
Do not come on this board expecting help from anyone that works for Inuit. They are all robots, that only know how to say, "Upgrade! Upgrade!" They do not even try to address your issue, or even know if upgrading will fix it. They are just here to trick you into upgrading or switching to the online version, which costs four times more and is worse crap than the desktop version. QB online is awful. Not online that, the support is more braindead than the guys on here. Last year I tried it out and it took me three days and about 20 chat sessions, countless phone calls, and endless hours of frustration to even try to import my company file. In one chat session, I switched between departments no less than 30 times. It went something like this.
Me: Hi. I am switching from QB desktop to QB Online. How do I import my company file?
CS: Thank you for contacting us. I will be glad to help you. I see you are trying to upgrade from Desktop to Online. I am sorry, I am Online support. You need to talk to Desktop support. Here is a link to chat with that department.

This went on for days! I kid you not. Finally, I found out how to do it on my own, and when I imported my company file, Intuit automatically upgraded me from Simple Start to ADVANCED, which is $150 a month. I only use QB for bookkeeping. I used only three functions of the whole dang program. I enter sales receipts, enter credit card charges, and make deposits. That is it!
I created a fake company just to test out the online version and hated it. It is so dang slow. It is not designed from keyboard and mouse interaction. It is designed for a touchscreen interface. It is horrible.
My best advice is to try to get away from Inuit like your life depends on it.
FINALLY!!! An answer that solved this issue! Thank you so much!

Actually, it is way worse than this. QB Pro Desktop costs $379.99 (Desktop download). You can use 99% of the program as long as you want, but certain online features have a sunset features that stop working after three years. Most people do not need the sunset features, but let's just call this a 36-month subscription for the sake of argument.
There really is not an online version that can match QB Pro Desktop, but let's just say that QB Plus Online is the online equivalent. QB Plus Online costs $70 a month. $70 x 36-month = $2,520. That is almost EIGHT times the price!
Intuit is going to do everything in its power to push you towards the online version because they can rape your wallet for thousands. They know nobody would pay $2,500 for their crappy Desktop program, so they try to fool you with that "LOW MONTHLY PAYMENT" for their Online version, which is way worse than their Desktop version. It is a sleazy car salesman technique.
https://*.intuit.com not *.intuit.com. IE needs the https:// in front.
Your fix worked for me. It's not like Intuit didn't know what to do, either. They just preferred to tell everyone to do a $300 update.
I tried to give you a cheer, but somehow, they won't permit me to do it.

While I appreciate the responses from the QuickBooks team, the solution for me was as follows:
I followed the directions of the individual at THIS POST which was essentially focused on trying to help you out in eliminating the main cause of script error in your computer.
If I didn't find that post I would have never been able to fix it.
I'm Having this same script issue. I was able to turn off the notifications as suggested but I have a follow-up question. How does this script error affect the QuickBooks program? Is it messing anything up?
Which QB Desktop year version and Windows OS do you run?
@4Gal Windows 10 and QuickBooks 2011 Pro Desktop.
From what I have read, it’s not compatible but is there a work around?
Consider to upgrade to a newer version with a non-subscription license to run QB on Win 10. You are working solo with no payroll, correct?
@4Gal yes working solo. Which do you recommend? How can this error adversely affect the functionality of the program?
appreciate your help!
