Your forums and authentication are so bugged!

The past few days that I've been trying to use your forums have been nothing short of a nightmare. I'm a software engineer by trade so I know a thing or two. I'm stuck in a constant loop of being told that I'm logged in but seeing messages that I'm not logged in, yet I have the ability to "Reply" or "Start Discussion" to then click post and get a dreaded Authentication failed error or sent to the login page only to find out I lost everything!

  1. There is clearly a discrepancy with your authentication status being incorrectly stored and read for user sessions. I've tried in Chrome, both regular and incognito modes and still experience the same across each. I'm stuck in a perpetual loop and can only post this discussion in a different browser.
  2. If you know a user is not authenticated, don't give your users the ability to Reply or Start a discussion to then lose everything they wrote and be infuriated like I have been many times.
  3. I have experienced being able to submit a Reply to another thread only to be returned to the thread and it show 0 Replies... After refreshing the page a few times and still not seeing my reply, believing this to be a submission bug, I have gone back through and had to rewrite my reply again only to be sent back to the original thread without my replies showing up. I did this three times yesterday and then boom, suddenly my previous two replies showed up with my third right behind them. There is a significant delay and it's very disruptive.

Yea, that's happened to me as well. I tend to copy my entire answer to the clipboard before submitting it, under the expectation that one or another thing will go wrong, which is a frequent occurrence.

I have a somewhat different experience, though. In my case I almost never appear to be logged in, but I can still read and post and like and so on. Super-strange.

One possible fix is to search for and delete all cookies that seem to have anything to do with QuickBooks or Intuit. Then restart your browser and try to log in again.

Correct - I knew cookies would be a likely culprit and didn't take long for me to take that approach but the fact I was still seeing the same behavior in incognito mode which has no cache or cookies was of concern.

I do not work for Intuit, but I can assure you that this is absolutely not the case.

If it were, the majority of my posts over the last year would never have seen the light of day, given that the staff here are also users.
