Any one else still having issues with Melio?

YES  it sucks.  it won't sync  Sync just keeps rotating and now when I try and schedule the payment I get to Bill Pay is loading and then nothing.  I have been dealing with this since Monday, 4 days with chat and no resolution.  QB you need to get them going or I am another one that will be looking elsewhere.  I've used quickbooks desktop since 2008 with very few problems, but now????????????????

@BobM

Are you still using QB Desktop or QB Online now?

No, I'm no longer having issues with Melio.  I have stopped using it.

I’ve stopped using the bill pay with melio since it went to $1.50 per transaction and the other issues with it also.  I use desktop which I think has more issues than QBO.  Maybe equally awful IDK.  I now use bill pay through my bank’s app and enter the payment in QB.  An extra step but it works.

Any one else still having issues with Melio?

Until I updated to the latest version of QuickBooks I did my on line bill pay through my bank. Did this option go away? They also said the bill pay would be free with my subscription but are charging me $1.50. The gas bill and electric bill didn't get paid and I didn't know until i got notices of shut off. So my main question is how do I get back to paying through my bank

Thanks for chiming in on this thread, @Jana12.

I'm here to assist you with this concern about the Bill Pay option with your bank. I just need some more information to help me get on the same page.

May I know what's the name of your bank? This way, I can check on my end and see if other customers are experiencing the same issue you have with this option.

About your issue with being charged $1.50, although this service doesn't have a monthly subscription fee, you'll still be charged a transaction fee for each payment you process. You can click this article for additional details: What is Online Bill Pay?

Feel free to get back here in the Community. I appreciate any details you can provide. I'm looking forward to your reply. Have a good one!

@Jana12

Before you decide to go back to using your bank to pay bills, consider signing up for a separate Melio account for free as a workaround. While out of sync with QB Desktop, our clients say their Support team is more responsive as support tickets are directed directly to them rather than through the Intuit team.

Any one else still having issues with Melio?

I'd like to mention a couple of things, as I've had a fair number of interactions with Melio.  Fortunately, the severity of my issues have paled next to some that I've read here.  Anyway, I've reached them through two different addresses, "[email address removed]" (identified as "QBO Bill Pay Support"), and "[email address removed]" (identified as "Melio Support").  The latter seems to be most often associated with automatic responses.

1. There have been times where they've taken a while to get back to me - however, when they have, they've always been extremely thorough in addressing my issues - even to the point of getting back to me after the fact to see if everything has been resolved.  It's been quality support - but I'm guessing they're extremely under-staffed, like maybe somebody under-estimated the scope of taking on QBO.  (personally, I can understand why few people might want that job!)

2. Try out the Meliopayments.com site.  You don't even need to sign up for it - just use the "log in with Intuit".  If you're logged into QBO, you'll get right in.  It'll be shocking to see how differently everything is set up - it's a sleeker interface, but different enough in some aspects that it can be hard to find everything.  But so far I've found any info that's available in Melio within QBO.  The Bills and Payments also coordinate with QBO just as they do within QBO.  I've been going back and forth - using one when I hit a roadblock with the other.  I still haven't determined which one I prefer, though I'm leaning toward the meliopayments.com site.

I would stay as far away from using Melio as a bill pay option as possible.  Their "chat" support is not at all useful.  I believe your funds are also not secure, as vendors can apparently change method of payment without your knowledge.  This opens the possibility of a vendor employee directing funds to a bank account other than the vendors.  Don't laugh, it happened to me.  If the funds are not recovered, Melio says so sad, so bad, we are not responsible for fraudulent acts of a vendor. Allowing anyone other than yourself to direct how payments are made is inappropriate in my humble opinion. They will not even release information as to where the funds went with out a subpoena. "We asked for the money back, if receiving bank does nothing in thirty days, too bad." Most annoying dog and pony show I have ever experienced.  Fortunately, the funds misdirected from my account and never recovered were not overly material.  Live and learn.

How can anyone take Melio seriously when they don't even provide a field for customer ID/account number in the vendor address/profile.  Unbelievable.

Intuit should be embarrassed and ashamed to be associated with an entity like Melio.

How do you all chat with Melio? I can't even do that. When I click on the chat box, nothing happens. I'm very frustrated with this integration right now. So far, it's only cost me extra time and money when I was hoping it would save me time by paying vendors via ACH.

First, know that this isn't the kind of experience we want you to have here in QuickBooks Online (QBO) while using the Melio App. And I know how it can be frustrating when the application you're using isn't working as expected.

To help narrow down this matter, let’s perform some troubleshooting steps that can resolve issues like this. You can use a private window or incognito mode to access your account. It won't use the data from the existing webpage cache, so it’s a good spot to start.

Here are the shortcut keys:

  • For Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, press CTRL + SHIFT + N.
  • For Mozilla Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Safari (Mac), press Command + Shift + N.

If everything looks good when using the private window, you can go to your regular browser and clear your browser cache. This process will help you fix browsing issues and remove outdated temporary internet files. You can also switch to other browsers to see if the problem is with the one you're currently using.

You can visit their website so that you can use to connect with them again: Melio app information. You can use their email or their Contact details under the App information.

If you need help managing your vendors and transactions, visit our Income and Expenses article. This guide contains resources to help you manage your expenses in QBO.

Regarding comment 1.  I have NEVER had a satisfactory prompt reply from Melio.  Frankly, I do not have days to wait for Melio support to "look into a matter".

After I up dated to 2023 QuickBooks Enterprise and went to sent online payments it pushed me through to melio. After two months of missed payments and frustration I happen to notice the dropdown window at the bottom of the page where I click on the vendors to pay . The drop down is called Method. It was Switched to Schedule Online Payment instead of Bank Payment with my bank account name to the side. Once I went back to the bank payment I did have to re-enroll in my bank bill pay to get it to pay from my QuickBooks but that was easy.

Melio is terrible. I have invoices in Quickbooks that I scheduled the payment and they never went through to Melio or Melio received them and it didn't go through their system correctly. I have two invoices for one vendor, I paid both the same day, (yes I know I can select two now) and only one went through. Why?

I have other vendors where I pay a few invoices within a week and some go through and some don't. This always seems to be with ACH.

I don't need basic explanations. I have read them and done them. They don't work. From time to time, a payment will just not go through AND WORSE, it still shows PAID in Quickbooks! TERRIBLE!!

That sounds horrible.  I haven't had the same issues with Melio, I guess I'm lucky, they've been pretty good for me.  Not perfect, but haven't had any issues like this.  However, I do wish that some genius would come up with a competing free bill pay app for QB.  Outside of that it sometimes makes me want to go back to just printing checks and going old school again.

Any one else still having issues with Melio?

hi!

I connected to Melio to Quickbooks and this is always happening: Something went wrong. Please try reconnecting to your account.

Can't seem to find a way to make this connection and is always saying that.

Any one else still having issues with Melio?

I can see the urgency of having the ability to connect Bank of America with QuickBooks. ,  jmota78.

We can perform some troubleshooting steps to fix this. There are times when the browser is full of frequently accessed page resources, which causes some errors or unusual responses.

Let's start accessing your account using a different or private browser. You can use either of these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once logged in, try to connect with Melio. If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. Doing so will remove the historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser.

If the issue persists, I suggest contacting the developer support of Melio. They’ll be able to investigate and share steps to resolve the issue.

Here's how to reach them:

  1. Go to Apps.intuit.com.
  2. Type in the Melio app in the search bar.
  3. Select the Contact tab or the Support tab.

I’m adding some links below for additional resources about managing bills and setting scheduled payments in Online Bill Pay.

Let me know if you have additional assistance with connecting your bank account to QBO. I'm always here to help. Have a great day!

Any one else still having issues with Melio?

I concur that I don't need anymore basic explanations, all have been read and done and most coming here seeking answers for Melio are already expert-level QBO users. I am frustrated that just when I think the system is finally working properly, something new pops up.

1. I've found that when making an ACH/Electronic vendor payment with multiple invoices, Melio makes the payments in individual increments to the vendor but my bill marks as paid in total. The issue is while the individual payments tie out to the bank statement for reconciliation, the TOTAL amount paid ALSO appears in the reconciliation. If I use a JE to to correct, then I must also use the individual vendor and thus it throws off their actual open balance. The only work around I can find to clear and balance to reconcile is to make a deposit back into the account affected. I didn't think to take a screen shot whilst reconciling, but I have attached an example of the work around, showing a payment made (for a total of 8 bills for $5,474.90) This amount was appearing in the reconilation, PLUS each of those individual payment amounts

2. Another eft payment posted completely to the wrong vendor, when double checking everything was correct on our end we confirmed we had the correct bank account number for the ACH transfer and the correct email address for the vendor (its not a new vendor, nor the first payment weve sent). But Melio alerted the wrong vendor, "that payment was on its way". How does that even happen?

We hear your sentiments, BNC. I'm here to guide you to the proper support to make sure ACH Vendor payments are accurately sent, and that payment notification is sent to the right vendor.

Considering that Melio is the one who processes your supplier payments for you, it'd be best to get in touch with them. This allows them to double-check and ensure alerts are sent correctly.

If you're good, here's an extra article you can browse to see information on how to manage bills and record payments in QBO: Create and manage bills and bill payments in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to post back in the Community if you have other concerns regarding vendors, bills, payments, or QuickBooks. We'll make sure to respond as soon as we can. Stay healthy.

Thank you, but this actually doesn't even address anything about the issues I stated, and kind of goes back to the complaint many have expressed here that "basic explanations" and links to "bill pay 101" are NOT needed. QuickBooks does so many things so well, and has other quality integrated apps; Melio is just not one of them. With all due respect, Intuit needs to do better here and reconsider the relationship with Melio or take ownership and address these issues head on.

I completely agree with you and other users on this thread.  Melio has absolutely abysmal customer service, dare I say no customer service at all.  I have been trying to reach someone at Melio  for weeks regarding a payment.  Their two customer service numbers that Intuit/QuickBooks gave me only tell you to log onto their website and "chat" with an associate. But once you follow the steps, suddenly there are no associates available.  It is crazy that QuickBooks allows a 3rd party vendor to not have a customer service facet to their business.

I use the QBO Bill Pay feature to pay our contractors.  It uses Melio, of course, to do the bank transfers.  No problems untill today when suddenly QBO doesn't seem to connect with Melio.  Spoke with QB customer service for about an hour.  The best she could do was send me a link to bill.com and told me to try that until Melio connection was fixed.  But I actually tried going to Melio directly at https://app.meliopayments.com/.  It asked if I wanted to use my Intuit info to automatically connect to my QBO data (probably via cookies in the browser), and all my contractors bill showed up in the Melio UI.  It had all their bank info and alowed me to pay everyone the same way I do it in QBO!.  Then all the payments automatically showed up in QBO!  So this looks like it's potentially a good workaround for the crapy connection from within the QBO Bill Pay.

Maybe one day Intuit will get all this fixed so we have a solid system to handle actual financial transactions.

@AMRoC_Fab_Lab

You are correct. Signing up for a separate Melio account is a workaround when you encounter issue with Online Billpay feature. As an additional perk, you can get $100 as cashback to pay your first bill with credit card. T&C apply.
