I'm looking for the desktop version with a "Lifetime" license, no payroll connections to Intuit. What advice on software purchase can anyone offer? I need the software to cut payroll, but I can manually calculate the taxes. I need access to the quarterly reports (941, state WH, state UI), but I can also file those manually with the need of an in-between entity. I want to run the books on my PC alone, with zero connection to the internet or Intuit. ADVICE MUCH APPRECIATED!
Do you have to use a specific version or is any version acceptable?

I purchased 2021, then they had me upgrade to DeskTop 2024, but I later learned this was an "online subscription". I then got talked into converting to QBO. Biggest mistake ever. I want to get away from Intuit and any type of subscription. Stand alone software... let's just pretend the internet doesnt work! small construction company, payroll for just 2, which I can manually calc the taxes and manually pay (and file) quarterlies. I'd like the 941 form to be available, but do not need tax tables. Need time and expenses to be billable to customers. I ran this in the 80's and 90's and now the simplistic software has WAY more bells and whistles than I need. I'm open to advice! TYIA!
You still have your old QB Desktop 2021 license, correct? Why don't you switching back to it?
