Thanks for reaching out for support here in the Community. I'd be glad to provide some info so you're able to use the tab key in QuickBooks Online.

 

As an initial troubleshooting step, I recommend clearing the browser cache. The cache is in place to collect frequently used data to make loading web pages quicker and easier. If it becomes too full, the opposite can happen and cause viewing and performance errors within the system. 

 

Here's how to get this done if you're using Chrome:

 

1. Click the three vertical dots in the top right corner.
2. Select More Tools, then Clear Browsing Data.
3. Change the time range to All Time.
4. Only check Cached images and files.
5. Click clear data.

None of these suggestions fixed this problem in my Quickbooks on line account.   For those of us who must use this program, this is like playing a piano with the black keys located on the side of the piano.  Is anyone at Quickbooks interested in fixing this issue?

I'll share insights about why you're unable to use the Tab key from the keyboard to transfer fields while creating a bill in QuickBooks Online.

 

Currently, we have an ongoing issue where customers, like you, have been unable to the Tab key to transfer from the category to the description field while creating bills. Rest assured that our engineering team is aware and they've been in all hands working to fix this as soon as possible.

 

For now, let's consider using your mouse to transfer between fields as the workaround. While this problem is not yet fixed, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Support. You can work with one of our specialists in creating a ticket linked to the said investigation to receive updates via email. Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Search.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Enter Unable to use tab key to transfer between fields in the What can we help you with? text area.
  5. Choose Chat or Callback to connect with our specialists online.
