Question

Attaching a bill

I was just forced to upgrade from 2020 desktop to 2023 desktop and I now cannot easily attach a bill by scanning and attaching.  Now I have to scan in to my desktop and pull it over that way.  It's double the work.  So, in my mind, I had to pay over $500 for an upgrade I didn't want or need and now I have to do double the work.  Am I missing something?

Hello there,

The Scan Manager referred to has been discontinued since the 2022 version. The current alternative is to snap and attach documents to transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. It is done through the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app for document uploads to QuickBooks Desktop. Once uploaded, these documents can be added to invoices, purchase orders, or other transactions.

Here is what to do:

For iOS mobile app

  1. Sign in to your Intuit Account from the QuickBooks Desktop app, and select the company to upload documents.
  2. On the home screen, tap the option to Snap and Upload Document.
  3. Tap Snap Document.
  4. Tap the Camera icon to take a picture of the bill, or tap the Photos icon to upload your bill. If you need to, you can crop and rotate the photo.
  5. Tap Use this photo.
  6. Add a Name and Memo, tap Upload photo, then tap OK.
  7. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file to review, edit, and match bills to transactions.

Yes, correct. Intuit elected to not update the scanning tool when they made QuickBooks a 64-bit app last version-year. I think they discontinued every similar external app instead of updating them to work with the new QuickBooks.
