Buy nowI can write a balance sheet report (in QBO) that shows account balances month by month. However, I would like to limit that report to a specific set of asset accounts, and have none of the other assets or any of the liabilities show up. I cannot figure out how to do that. There doesn't seem to be a way to filter a balance sheet report by account.
If absolutely necessary, I can export to excel and manipulate there, but that seems cumbersome.
Any ideas?
How would your balance sheet balance if you remove some of the asset accounts and all of the liabilities?
because i don't actually want a "balance sheet".
what i want is
acct 1 - july end, aug end, sept end
acct 2 - july end, aug end, sept end
acct 3 - july end, aug end, sept end
so i can track investment performance.
the pre-fab "balance sheet" report is the only thing that i can find that's even close. but i can't choose the accounts.
The ability to filter accounts in the Balance Sheet report is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @BT777. I'll provide other ways for you to proceed in this matter.
As you stated in your post, you have the option to export your Balance Sheet Report into Excel.
You can also run the Transaction Detail by Account report and filter it to a specific set of asset accounts. You can follow these steps:
To include additional details when tracking Balance Sheet accounts, you can utilize this article: Run a balance sheet by class or location in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks.
The ability to filter by account would be helpful.
Using Transaction Detail by Account is no good because I only want the month end balance.
I will resort to Excel.
