Exporting to Excel

Hello,

We recently migrated from Enterprise to Online, when we used to export a report in our Enterprise system it would use the latest installed version of excel that we had.  The online version keeps choosing 93-97 something and it is not compatible with the latest excel formatting needed.  How can I change that?

Hi there, ShannonSNichols.

Thank you for visiting again the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing details about importing data in QuickBooks Online. Then, route you to the right support to assist you in achieving your goal in changing file format.

There's a specific file format you'll have to use to import information to QuickBooks Online. You can use a CSV file (Comma Separated Values), Google Sheets, or an XLS/XLSX file to import information to QuickBooks Online.

Here's some info about the different formats:

  • CSV file: A common file format used for text files that contain tabular data. In CSV files, each field of text is separated by a comma, semi-colon, or other special characters.
  • XLS/XLSX file: XLS is the file format of Microsoft Excel 1997-2003. Microsoft Excel 2007 and newer use the XLSX file format.
  • Google Sheets: A cloud-based spreadsheet created in Google Drive.

Since QuickBooks Desktop uses the latest version of excel when exporting reports and it's not compatible with the online version, I recommend consulting an IT expert. They'll have the tools and provide you with detailed information on how to change the data on the latest Excel from QBDT to file format in QBO.

Additionally, you can click on this article to see further details about importing data to QuickBooks Online and different scenarios you might encounter: Common questions about importing data to QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to add a comment below if you have more questions about importing data to QBO from QBDT. I'll be around to help. Have a great day!

Exporting to Excel

Hello,

While I appreciate the long and detailed reply, I asked about Exporting to a specific excel type, not importing.  Pleaes, reread my question and reply if you have the correct answer, but not about importing

Hello again, ShannonSNichols.

I want to make sure you can export the excel file format that you need.

To ensure we're on the same page, could you please send a screenshot where the online version keeps choosing 93-97 something for the file excel format type? I would appreciate it if you could add information.
