I would like to create a p/l comparing the previous 4 or 5 years.  Can this be done in QBO?  I cannot find how to do it.

Hi Mark,

Welcome, and thank you for getting help with a report, comparing the Profit and Loss of each year in the last 4 or 5 years. I'm happy to help you achieve this.

To generate the report:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Select Profit and Loss under Business Overview.
  3. In the Report period drop-down list, select Custom.
  4. Set the date range to January 1, 2018 end December 31, 2023.
  5.  In the Display columns by drop-down list, choose Calendar Years.
  6. Select Run report.

On the other hand, you can also check about customizing report as your reference if you need fine-tuning on the Profit and Loss data.

You can always go visit back on this thread if you have any other concerns about your report. I'll be happy to help you again. Take care and have a good one!

@marksandelin

It's kind of crazy that even QB employees don't know how to do this.

Go to your profit & loss report, under 'Report period', select the dates that include the years you want to compare.  Under 'Display columns by', select Years.  Run report.  Voila!
