Can someone help me with this? I have to run a payroll summary report on quick books desktop, weekly and monthly. I found that when I enter the dates such as 03/13-03/19 it is really for the previous week of 03/06-03/12. Is there a way to change this? I want to make sure that when I run the report it is truly for the hours worked for those dates.
Thank you for coming back to the thread, cotullacowgirl. I'll be providing information on how the payroll summary works in QuickBooks Desktop. Then, ensure you can view the report with accurate details.
When you customize any reports in QuickBooks Desktop, the data should show up in the right place or correctly. Since you filtered the date and the right information didn't appear accurately, I suggest running the Verify and Rebuild Data Utilities to get this sorted out. The Verify Data utility identifies any potential data damage issues that might've caused unusual behavior when running reports. While the Rebuild Data utility repairs damaged data in your company file. Before this, you'll have to secure a backup copy of your company file. Then, please note that the dates in this payroll summary report are by paycheck dates only, not pay period dates.

No, there's no way to change it. Payroll reports (correctly) use the paycheck transaction date, not the pay period, which is not relevant for accounting or payroll reporting.

Verify and rebuild aren't going to change anything related to the payroll report because there is nothing wrong. It is working exactly as it should be working. The OP wants the report to use the payroll pay period, but it doesn't do that (which you should know), since you work for Intuit and you're here offering help. Sending the OP down a rat-hole and suggesting their data might be corrupt isn't helpful.
