Vendors below threshold are appearing on report.  Using IRS thresholds.  Report parameters are 1099 Vendors, 1099 Accounts and Use Thresholds.  Vendors with $0.00 are appearing on report.

"Go to edit from the top" on what page exactly? I don't see this on the 1099 summary report or anywhere else.

Hi there, bcollin.

If you don’t want to show zero amounts in your 1099 summary report, you can follow the steps below to exclude this information.

  1. Open the report and click the Customize Report tab at the top.
  2. Go to Display tab and click the Advanced tab at the bottom.
  3. Select Non-zero under DISPLAY ROWS and DISPLAYS COLUMNS.
  4. Click Ok.

You can save the customization you’ve created by clicking the Memorize tab at the top. Once saved, you can access it again anytime through Reports>Memorized Reports.

Hi there, @ljkentucky.

Thank you for posting in the Community. I'd be happy to help share some details about how the 1099 Detail report works.

When the 1099 Detail Report shows not 1099 vendors, it's possible that the 1099 options are set on their profiles. If that option is marked, their names will show on the report even if they didn't reach the IRS thresholds.

Let me guide you how to verify it:

  1. From the Vendors menu, choose Vendor Center.
  2. On the Vendor Center window, double-click the vendor name.
  3. On the left pane, select the Tax Settings tab.
  4. Make sure the Vendor eligible for 1099 box is blank.
  5. Click OK

After that, let's go ahead and view the report.

  1. From the Vendors menu, select Print/E-file 1099s.
  2. Select 1099 Detail Report.

For more details about 1099, I recommend checking these articles:

I did know that I could do that but I don’t understand why just the threshold parameter doesn’t work like it should. If I mark that vendor as “not 1099 eligible” this year then I have to remember to go back and check them as eligible next year. This doesn’t make sense to me - am I missing something else ?

Hello RhoiceW, I appreciate your prompt response, thanks.

Perhaps something was misunderstood, as you're referring to "threshold not set to zero that's why vendors with $0.00 are appearing on the report"

That is not the issue I'm describing, I'm referring to Vendors still being listed who do not meet the $600 threshold, ie their Total is less than $600 (but greater than $0).   Please review what I wrote:

"When producing a 1099-NEC Detail Report, it still includes Vendors who do not meet the $600 threshold, and I don't see any way provided by QuickBooks to exclude these Vendors. Filtering for Amounts less than $600 is not appropriate, as that removes transactions that should not be excluded. We need to be able to filter for "Totals" less than $600.

(I had already previously checked the threshold setting that you describe, and it is at 600 as required.)

Perhaps you can take another look at this issue, how to filter for Totals less than $600, and see what can be done about it please.

Many thanks, Peter

Excluding the vendors who do not meet the $600 threshold in the report is unavailable, Piper288. I can help you request this functionality from our developers while I provide some workaround you may consider.

The 1099 Detail report displays every payment made to vendors, with extra filters for those classified as 1099 vendors and accounts. That's why the list includes those not meeting the $600 threshold.

Additionally, I appreciate your effort in checking the tax settings to review your vendors' eligibility. Since we cannot modify the report to show only those who meet the $600 requirement, I recommend submitting a proposal for the additional feature to filter Amounts. This way, our developers may consider implementing it in the future.

Follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Help icon at the top menu.
  2. Select Send Feedback Online and then click Product Suggestion.
  3. Enter your request, then tap Send Feedback.

Monitor your suggestions through this website and stay informed about recent developments by visiting our blog.

In the meantime, you can export the report to Excel to organize the data by vendor and filter out those who do not meet the threshold. Alternatively, explore third-party software that provides more advanced reporting capabilities.

Moreover, refer to this article for more ways to personalize reports according to your needs: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Furthermore, save this reference to memorize the current customization for future use: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

We are genuinely interested in your input as it may help enhance the program moving forward. If you need a hand in tailoring reports, comment below, and I'll assist you promptly.

I think what everyone is missing on this thread is that just because they are on the summary report with $0, doesn't mean it will print a $0 1099. To take them off the report, click customize report, then Advance on the Display tab and select Non-Zero for display rows. To un-check 1099 eligible is silly and a great way to forget them next year!
