Balance Sheet

I just took over Desktop Pro from someone else. When running a Balance Sheet under ASSETS it lists Accounts Receivable as (-)165.00.

But when I run Open Accounts, it doesn't not show.

How to I find this -165.00 and how to remove it?

Balance Sheet

Hi there, Janet32.

The (-)165.00 that shows under Accounts Receivable might be an overpayment or customer's available credit. To find this amount, I'd suggest running the Customer Balance Detail report. From there, you'll able to see the available credit under the total balance.

Here's how:

  1. Click Reports at the top.
  2. Choose Customer & Receivable and select Customer Balance Detail.
  3. You'll see the total balance or available credit under the Balance column. You can click it to expand the page and to view the full details.

Once done, you can click this article to see information on how you want to handle the credit to remove the (-)165.00 on your report: Give your customer a credit or refund in QuickBooks Desktop for Windows.

Please refer to this article to see steps on how you can create a General Journal Entry to write off the amount balances: Write off customer and vendor balances.
