BRING BACK CLASSIC VIEW REPORTS

Who is making the AWFUL design decisions at Quickbooks Online?! The Classic View was visually beautiful, easy to read, quick to read, easy on the eyes, and all fit on one page. I just received an email that Classic View is being phased out and replaced with the UGLY, bold, truncated, impossible to read, doesn't fit right on the page, did I mention UGLY and GLARING, BRASH font. I don't need "hundreds of column headers" to waste my time and spend hours formatting. But I do need reports that provide the information in an informative and EASY TO READ manner. Please INTUIT, HIRE A GRAPHIC DESIGNER not just a software programmer. SO DISAPPOINTING. After 15 years of the reports becoming worse and worse, I will be looking thoroughly for a different accounting software. Simply cannot handle the atrocious changes that QBOE continues to make.

Hi, jenniferquinn1.

We appreciate your feedback about the new report interface. It isn't the kind of experience we want you to come across.

QuickBooks aims to provide a more user-interface. With that, I suggest sending your thoughts about the updates to our prroduct engineering team. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Under PROFILE, select Feedback.
  3. Type in a few words to describe your suggestion.
  4. Click Next.

As a workaround, you can click the Switch to classic view button to use the prior report interface. Please note that this option is available to some reports like Transaction Detail by Account, Transaction List by Customer, etc.

Furthermore, if you want to personalize the data on the report, you can customize it to your liking. Here's an article for the detailed steps in doing so: Modify reports in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have other concerns about running reports.

For goodness sake LISTEN TO THE FEEDBACK  and stop posting these inane robotic answers.

WE HAVE ALL DONE THIS AND YET ARE BEING IGNORED.

SAME here!!  I am appalled that QBO thinks that this is helpful.  You have caused me to have to rethink my software, for me, my clients and those who seek my help in the future.  I have been having to click on the 'classic view'.  Because your new view is HIDEOUS!!!.  And, now that I have received the email that you are not going to let us continue to use the reporting that we desire....I know now that you don't even kind of care about your clientele.  You've raised the costs, 5 or 6 times in the last couple of years.  Some years there were more than one change.  And, then you are ruining the product.  We are SMALL BUSINESSES and those who support SMALL BUSINESSES.  We don't have an IT department.  We don't have the resources to adapt to your flippant changes.  Have you asked your clientele what they want?  No.  I'm done.

I agree to bring back a version of classic view! Design in 2023/2024 and beyond in anything on the web should have assessible view. These designs are easily readable for everyone but focus on people with vision or other impairments. Certain font styles, layouts, color backgrounds/font colors are very important for ability to see the screen without eye strain, etc.

Ive actually got through to an actual human being in support who isn't led by the script. He called me as I made a major complaint . Im getting a call back on Friday ref my issues including modern view and the fact QBs arent listening. Will keep you updated.

As i keep saying complain , complain ,complain. More voices are bigger voices

Hello there, @akmurray, @DolphinUK.

It is not the type of impression that we want you to have. We highly appreciate all suggestions from our customers. Suggestions like this help us determine what enhancements and improvements are needed to make our product more effective and convenient.

That being said, I also encourage you to send feedback regarding maintaining the classic view in your reports. The more requests it gets, the higher priority it will be given for future enhancements.

You can follow the steps shared by my colleague Adrian_A on how to submit your request. To track the progress of your feature request visit our Feedback forum

Additionally, I'll be sharing these resources that will help you run basic reports and personalize it's details in QuickBooks:

You can always get back to the comment section if you have other concerns or suggestions about the display in your reports. I'm always here to help. Have a good one.

We HAVE been sending feedback.  and, sending feedback, and you see where it's gotten us.  Nowhere.  Nobody comes back and says, the reason we took your desired reporting away is --- NOTHING.  All we get is, send us feedback.

Your notes about how to get the classic view are only helpful NOW until you guys take that option away from us.  It has more than inconvenienced us.  It is going to shut down my capabilities to answer my clients needs.

My sentiments exactly! Well stated.

I thoroughly and wholeheartedly agree with you!  I am a professional bookkeeper and work on multiple clients who use QBO.  Some have the option of switching to classic view - and others don't.  Time wasted when you have to click on the switch button, but at least it's there.  When it's not and forced to use the new format - I want to PULL MY HAIR OUT!

You used to be able to search the payee -- then click on the payee's name and take you to all the transactions of that payee.  From there you can see how they were coded previously for continuity.  I know what QB is going to say... use rules.  I use rules very seldom because often times the account classification isn't the same for every time.  So being able to do a quick search for the payee and seeing the coding history is very helpful.  Now - you can't search that way with this new version.  You can search "contacts" aka vendor/customer names -- but when you click on the name it takes you to the transaction.  That's not what I want.  Before you would search for the vendor/payee and the transactions pop up and the payee would be IN BLUE - A LINK TO CLICK and see all a list of all transactions and the account they were coded to.  That no longer exists.  Now you have to go to the vendor screen under "expenses" and do it that way.  WHAT A WASTE OF TIME - FOR BOTH ME AND MY CLIENT WHO PAYS ME.

TIME EFFICIENCY IS COMPLETELY WASTED because of this new search.  AT THE MINIMUM - PLEASE LEAVE OPTIONS TO CLICK ON CLASSIC FEATURES FOR US IN THE PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTING WORLD.  Maybe it's fine for the sole-prop who doesn't know any better --- but for us who work on this everyday - you're making it incredibly difficult.

I'm very upset about the change from Classic View to Modern View. I have wasted hours on trying to run similar reports in Modern View to the ones that are easily created in Classic View. Some of them cannot be recreated in Modern View, and these reports are critical to our business.  A simple example of this is adding a class column to a transaction report so that I can export it to Excel. I do not want to filter or pivot; I just want a column added so that I can export it to Excel and summarize on my own, but this does not seem to be an option.  We may have to leave QBO if we cannot pull the reports we need.

And YES, I have already sent in feedback using the gear icon.  Many times.

I AGREE!!!!!! I am a professional bookkeeper and have been using QB for 30 years. ALL of my clients have been FORCED into QBO. The modern view DOES NOT WORK. It takes me twice a long to drill into a report and then I usually have to start over with a new report. Do NOT mess with the classic view!!!!!!!!!!!
