Hello @Basil_Payne,
Thank you for keeping in touch about the General Ledger report. Allow me to join the thread and provide clarification about printing your business data in QuickBooks Online.
Yes, you're right. The report can only handle smaller increments when printing the data. Too much data will lead to an error or unusual results like not being able to print information.
For now, I recommend you pull up data in smaller chunks to print successfully (three to six months will work). You should be able to see the preview of the GL without any issue.
If you want to play around with the report customization in the future, I have an article that can help. For tips and guidance, check out this link: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.
Drop me a comment if you need more assistance printing the GL report in QuickBooks. I'll be more than happy to help. Take care.
I've got some troubleshooting steps to fix your printing issue, Basil_Payne.
Updating or repairing Adobe Reader/Acrobat to the latest version can fix most printing problems in QuickBooks Online.
To update Adobe Reader/Acrobat, you can check the Adobe website for detailed instructions.
If you've updated to the latest version yet still don't fix the issue, you may need to repair your Adobe installation. Here are the steps:
Restart your computer and try printing your General Ledger report.
Also, I've included some resources you can check for additional reference about fixing printing issues:

I can print other reports to pdf or printer. Problem only on General Ledger. I cannot see a preview of the GL. I suspect that the report is too long for Quickbooks?

Has this error been fixed yet? We need to file our assessor record which requires last years general ledger. Even in smaller chunks it still gives the error. We have a deadline for this filing and we are cutting it pretty close now.
