Hello there, @info-gracelandho.

I'm here to share with you how to undo the categorized items or transactions in QuickBooks Online.

You can undo categorized entry from the Categorized column on the Banking page. Here are the detailed steps:

  1. Open your QuickBooks Online account, then go to the Banking tab at the left pane.
  2. Select Banking, then look for your account.
  3. Click on the Categorized column.
  4. Choose the item/transaction, then tap on Undo under Action.

I've added this screenshot for your visual reference.

Also, you may read the topics from this link in case you need related resources while working with QuickBooks.

Post again if there's anything you need assistance with. I'm always here to help. Keep safe always!

I started using the Bank feed without reviewing how to do it. Now I have a bunch of transactions with UNDO listed under "action". Under what circumstances does this show up as the "action" and what exactly should I do?

This would not help much at all. I have 20 pages of transactions, some of which are mis-categorized by QB. These transactions are scattered across the 20 pages. I want to select these manually and set the correct category in one step. Right now I have to repeat that action page by page, because the simple act of pagination of transactions clears all previous selected checkboxes.

This is very clunky software, at least as far as categorization is concerned. For example, I want to review categorized transactions in the account register, even when I am still reviewing transactions for that account. Thus, I need to see the review window and the register window simultaneously. The only way, I was told by QB, is to login a second time in a new tab and then set up the required register. Is there a better way?

Hello there, SSWAMY.

I recognize your effort in categorizing your bank transactions. I'll share insights that could help you with the categorization.

In QuickBooks Online, selecting multiple transactions and then moving to the next page will deselect the previously selected entries. Hence, you need to perform and repeat the process on each page. Also, utilizing a different tab is the only way to check the For review tab and your register together.

In addition, when categorizing transactions, QuickBooks will automatically suggest different categories. You can manually change and select another category by clicking on the entry.

A bank rule will also help you auto-categorize transactions, which QuickBooks will remember and apply to the upcoming transactions. Let me guide you on how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon, then select Rules.
  2. Select New rule.
  3. Fill in all the necessary details.
  4. You can automatically confirm transactions that match your conditions by toggling the Auto-confirm on or off.
  5. When done, select Save.

For detailed information about the process above, please refer to this article: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Meanwhile, if you want to prevent QuickBooks from suggesting categories, you can disable this feature by following the steps below:

  1. On the Bank transactions page, select the For review tab.
  2. Above the transaction list, click on the Gear icon.
  3. Uncheck the Enable suggested categorization on the Transaction details field.

Moreover, I'm adding this resource to help you review your accounts in QuickBooks to ensure they match your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
