I updated my QuickBooks today (Desktop accountant plus 2024), and since then, it's collapsed the whole report, not just the subcategories (like it was until now).

Thanks for reaching out regarding the issue you're experiencing with reports collapsing after updating to QuickBooks 2024, JohnRider. Let me route you in the right direction for support regarding this matter.

I know how important it is to have your reports displayed accurately. However, there's an ongoing investigation into the root cause of this matter, and our product engineers are diligently working to find a permanent solution for this problem. That said, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team so they can add you to the affected users list. This way, you'll receive an email notification once an update becomes available.

Here's how to reach us:

  1. On the top menu, go to Help.
  2. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  3. Click Contact Us.
  4. Give a brief description of your concern. Then, Continue.
  5. Sign in to your Intuit account. Then, enter the code you receive in your email.
  6. Choose to Chat with us or Have us call you.

Please check out support hours in this article so your concerns get promptly addressed: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support.

Same thing happened to us.  We need this fixed asap.

Can we go back to the prior version?

Enhancing our customers' needs is our top priority, @KL52.

I appreciate your interest in having the collapse feature for reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). We have an open investigation where other users have encountered the same issue. With this, you can contact our QuickBooks Desktop Support Team to be added to the list of affected users and be updated once there's a possible resolution.

Moreover, please know that this is working as designed. Thus, you're unable to go back to the prior version. As we're constantly taking your suggestions into account while making product updates, you can submit your feedback to our Product Development Team if you prefer the old way. The more requests this gets, the more likely it'll be part of future enhancements.

Here's how:

  1. From the top menu bar, select Help and choose Send Feedback Online.
  2. Click on Product Suggestion.
  3. From the drop-down menu for Type of Feedback, select Product Suggestion.
  4. Choose the Product Area and enter your thoughts and suggestions.
  5. Once completed, click Send Feedback.

Once done, choose Send Feedback. I'll be adding these helpful articles with different reports in QBDT that you can generate and modify based on your preference to help you manage your business:

Let me know how else I can help you with QBDT features, specifically with reports. You can add your comment below. I'll always be ready to assist you.

@JohnRider

You're experiencing Intuit's new and improved reports for QuickBooks Desktop!

They're provided by the We-Don't-Know-How-To-Test-Software team, seemingly in an effort to make QuickBooks Online reports look better.

Rest assured, studies show that they're much easier to read, given that they contain almost no information. Yes, very streamlined and modern!

Same issue.  Extremely frustrating!

October 15, 2024

SUPER ANNOYING! I think Intuit is trying to make desktop more and more unusable, so we'll all switch to the more profitable QBO.

Had the same problem yesterday.  Today it is fixed.  How, I have no idea.

October 18, 2024

Maybe enough people complained. This is the first time in 20+years that I think QB has responded to something I gave feedback on!

Thank you Intuit! (for once)

It suddenly went back to"normal" on Friday, and I verified this morning the reports are again running as we had saved them, very strange.  Assuming there was a fix - Thank you for the fix.
