Question

Control - F

How many of you are having trouble using Control-F?  After using, if you hit escape it will totally kick you out of Quickbooks and you have to log back in.  It's a pain.  Today, after contacting customer support, Quickbooks uninstalled and reinstalled.  We ran Tool Hub.  All to no avail.  It became a T2 issue.  They would call me back.  When they called and I answered and said to wait for rep - a voice message came on and said sorry we missed you.  I WAS ON THE PHONE!  Went back to help - sent case number, someone called back.  Another case number issued.  I would receive another call back.  Still waiting.  Was told by rep that wasn't the proper way to close.  Told the rep it's worked for 14 years until I updated to 2023.  Escape is a major key.  I would ask all of you to try this and if you experience the same problem, pleaset let Quickbooks know so they can fix the problem. I've had other users in other companies try this with the same result.

We have been battling that same issue since we upgraded in March. Took forever to figure out the one user that uses those keys for the last 10yrs, she was the only one crashing.

Tried on mutable computers users and company files, it crashes every time.

We put in Bug fix request yesterday, hopefully they get it fixed soon.

Good thing is as long as you don't use the escape key you wont crash for the moment. 🙂

Hi there, @valveman. I'm here to provide some updates regarding the issue when using the Escape key from the Find feature in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Upon checking our database, the investigation is still an ongoing process. Rest assured, our Engineering Team is aware of this issue and is working diligently to resolve it.

Currently, the suggested workaround is to utilize the button instead to close the Find transaction page.

While we're unable to provide exact dates for when this issue will be fixed, I encourage you to contact our Customer Care Team for instant updates about this concern. They can add you to our notification list, and you'll receive an email notification once an update is available.

Additionally, you can browse our QBDT help page for future use. It contains helpful steps and video tutorials about managing your company file.

I appreciate your patience while we work to fix this. I'm only a post away if you have other QuickBooks-related questions. Keep safe!

Having the same problem!!  Years with QB and can’t use ESC now??  Crazy.

Same here. After the upgrade to 2023 pressing ESC crashes QB

This QB update has created so many issues.  We have an external accounting firm that remotes into our host server to do their work in QB on our files.  Since updating to 2023, it has jacked everything up.  We can't switch to Multi User (get H202 error), can't hit escape, etc.  (And "use the x" is not a valid work around.  For those of us with their hands on the keyboard writing 100s of checks per day, having to stop each time, grab the mouse, and click x wastes so much time.  The reason "hot keys" were originally created were to avoid having to use the mouse for everything.  Come On Intuit...fix this crap.  You FORCE us to update to this version and then you don't fix the bugs.  I waited until the very last possible moment to upgrade b/c I knew there would be issues, but was hoping you would have them all worked out.  Nope!  And God forbid we try to get on the phone with someone who can pronounce my name "Jud" and who doesn't have roosters crowing in the background every 5 seconds.

This is not what we want you to experience, @jonesbarrel and @AgiJud.

As per checking here, the investigation concerning the issue when using the Escape key from the Find feature in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is still ongoing. This means that our engineers are still working to find a permanent fix and make you and other customers go back to business.

In the meantime, I'd suggest getting in touch with our Customer Support Team so you'll be added to the list of affected users. That way, once an update about this investigation will be available, you'll be one of the first ones to know since you'll be notified through email.

I'd be glad to input the steps how:

  1. Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account and select Continue and then Continue with my account
  5. We'll email you a single-use code. Enter your code and select Continue
  6. Select to chat with us or Have us call you.
