I am going to start ordering Kits, which have multiple items and multiple serial numbers.  What is the best way to track and account for the multiple serial numbers?

I would create each item as a bundle.  From the Sales menu on the side choose 'Products and Services' and then hit the 'New' button and choose Bundle.  You can list each item and serial number in the lines provided and name each bundle accordingly - perhaps matching the name of each kit.  I hope that helps!!!

Hi there, @fox22cz.

Thanks for visiting us here in the Community. I can help you run a report to track and account for the multiple serial numbers in QuickBooks Desktop.

There are a lot of available reports in QuickBooks but the one which suits the information you need is Serial Numbers in Stock

Here's how to pull up and customize the report:

  1. Click Reports.
  2. Choose Inventory.
  3. Select Serial Numbers in Stock.
  4. If you'd like to customize the report, you can use this article as a reference: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

That should keep you going today! Don't hesitate to ping me if you need further assistance. I'm always here to help you out.

Going into inventory, so i can print a report of specific items with the serial numbers...

Thanks for checking back with us, @ssmotorsports

There could be a couple of different reasons you're not seeing the Serial Numbers In Stock report. Let's make sure you have everything you need to see the report.

This report is only available in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise and Platinum editions. Therefore, if you do not have one of these editions, you will not see the report. Secondly, you'll need to ensure you have the serial number's enabled within your advanced inventory settings. I've covered the steps to turn this feature on below.

  1. Click on the Edit dropdown, then choose Preferences.
  2. Select Items & Inventory, then tap on the Company Preferences tab.
  3. Hit Advanced Inventory Settings, then select Serial/Lot Number & Expiration Dates.
  4. Click on Activate Lot or Serial Numbers, then choose Serial Numbers or Lot Numbers.
  5. Go to Show serial or lot number in and select the transaction types you want to show serial or lot numbers.

For additional information about this process, check out Use Serial or Lot Numbers in QuickBooks Desktop

However, if you meet the qualifications I've listed above and you still do not see the option, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team for further review. Our tech support agents can investigate this matter further by securely checking your account.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Have a good one!
