Hi there, @PSconsulting

At the moment, the option to pull up a journal entry showing all payroll transactions is unavailable.

You can run the Transaction Detail by Account report and customize it to show your payroll transactions instead.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports page, then enter Transaction Detail by Account report in the Search field.
  2. Click Customize., then select the date you want to view in the Report period drop-down menu.
  3. Select the Filter option.
  4. Put a checkmark in the Employee option.
  5. Click Run report.

You can now see your payroll transactions. You might want to save this report for your future reference. Simply click the Save customization, then look for this report in the Custom reports tab when needed.

Get back to me, and I'll be there to help if you have additional concerns about running a payroll report in QuickBooks.

This is unacceptable and why Quickbooks online is not as good as Quickbooks desktop.  This is a normal accounting report and is not available without building it myself.

The same reports available in the desktop version, specifically employee journal in excell, should be available in the online version.

This does not seem to give a report of the journal entries made by QB Payroll. It does give a report of Journal entries made my the user in the specified period. I can select Employee as directed and it does not include Employee name in the column.

I need to see the journal posting for a given payroll run that is inclusive of the Paycheck Tips entered in the payroll  module.

Thanks

The Journal report offers a comprehensive list of journal postings for every payroll transaction. It will display separate lines for bank, wage expense, and payroll liability postings. If you assigned a specific wage expense account for paycheck tips, it will also have a separate line item in the report.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and type in Journal in the Search bar.
  2. Click Customize in the upper-right hand corner.
  3. Scroll-down to the Filter section.
  4. Check the box for Name, then select all employees that you need.
  5. Check the box for Transaction type and look for Payroll Check.
  6. Click Run report
