Ridiculous Rate Increase!

How does Quickbooks think it is okay to increase our subscription by 30%?!! I have been happy overall with Quickbooks but this now has me thinking I need to look elsewhere. No reply will help, just voicing a complaint on the only platform Quickbooks allows feedback.

Thank you for getting in touch about this, davidkeithphoto.

Price changes are necessary to helps us make improvements on the product features. This way, we can deliver the product that best meets your needs.

You can read this article that includes more information about the pricing updates: What you need to know about QuickBooks Online price increases.

The cost of the product can vary depending on which features your business requires. If your paying more with your current subscription, you can switch to a different plan by downgrading your service.

Before doing so, make sure you aren't losing any essential features. Also keep in mind that downgrading removes any discounts on your current plan.

Once you've decided, follow the Downgrade your subscription steps in this article: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription.

My point was about the amount of increase not why there is an increase.  I do annual increases as a small business owner on my services.  We all understand the need but my clients would all cry foul if I tried a 30% rate increase and so should the clients of Quickbooks.

My comment had nothing to do with the idea of a rate increase.  We all understand the need and do it ourselves as small business owners.  However if I tried to pass along a 30% increase, no matter the justification, many of my clients would bail on me and understandably so.  It demonstrates poor foresight and management.

They really believe the market can absorb it. If a user can't afford it, that user is no longer their target market.

It's pretty outrageous. With a 30% rate increase you'd think they would ask for consent. But no, they just increase it and your only option is to cancel at that point. My customer satisfaction rating just went from 5 to 1 in one day. This is a very shady business practice and not all what I'd expect from a company dealing with small businesses.

It's now $540/yr. I just downgraded my account to the single user account because I don't use the other features. This way they'll lose $160 instead of gain $110 for this ridiculous move.

I agree! There should be different subscription levels. I’m in the process of starting my own bookkeeping service and I recently purchased 2022 QB Premier Accountant. One of the features I really like is batch entry. Well had I known that I was going to have to pay $550.00 to basically buy a new program every year I would have looked at other options. Intuit customer sales of course did not mention the upcoming price increases. A 3 year subscription would have been better. Now we are forced to subscribe every year and if you don’t pay they shut down the program. I have client now who is still using 2012! I get it inflation is off the charts but honestly this too big of an increase. Looking at other options.

What can I downgrade to in the desktop version that has batch entry? I just purchased 3 months ago 22 QB Premier Accountant I believe for $550.00. At the time I thought okay a lil high but an investment in my new business.  I know find out the cost will be an annual subscription of the same price! Just when you think you are getting ahead you get slapped with a rate increase. Customer sales should have been more forthcoming with options. That’s how you support small businesses!

Congratulations on your new business. I can see the importance of having software that can meet your business needs at a reasonable price.

Right now, Desktop Premier Accountant and Enterprise Solutions have the ability to do a batch entry. Downgrading to a lower version of QuickBooks Desktop and still having the batch entry feature isn't possible.

For more information, you may check out this article: Accountant tools: Batch enter transactions.

Additionally, I've attached an article you can use for future tasks in case you'll want to import or export info with QuickBooks Desktop: Import and export data.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have further questions about downgrading and managing your QuickBooks file. I'll be around to help you always. Keep safe!

Unfortunately you can only request a refund within 60 days after the date of purchase. You can still purchase the one time license for QBD 2022 Premier Accountant edition until next month. They will no longer offer this option when QBD 2023 is released next month.

I just spent an hour helping a user who last year purchased the subscription 2022 Desktop product, at that time we registered it to their email, this year, no evidence of that being registered after the expiration, no option for renewal.  We just had to chat for an hour online with a person to get the 2023 subscription renewed.  Prior to our chat, no product was shown in their portal from 2022.  SO, not only did Intuit raise the price 30% from 2022, but they also failed ot use the crazy price increase when shifting to annual from perpetual in 2022 to facilitate making it easier for my customer to transition into their 2023 subscription.  They had to basically 'start over.'  In 2018, they purchased their Quickbooks Desktop pro for around $280, used it for 3 YEARS, for around $93 a year.  So a 590% increase yearly between 2018 and 2023.  ALL THE CUSTOMER DOES IS PAY BILLS and reconcile their checkbook.  I've recommended that they consider alternate products at th is point.

Login into their CAMPS as Primary Contact and you have to find their license code there.

The Essentials plan seems to be what they are promoting.  You have to search hard to find their Simple Start version which will still be $360 per year but it is better than having to pay for the other plans packed full of the features many of us do not need.  I went from purchasing an upgrade every 3-4 years to now paying the $360 every year.  My costs have gone up by nearly 500% (5X) which is insane.  All I want is the basics and in a local desktop app.  I don't need the full cloud use it anywhere options.  I just need it local.  I agree with all that posted here, they didn't bother to check with end users before making this decision.  I also agree with the overnight product rating going from a 5 out of 5 to a 1 out of 5 now because of this REALLY POOR PLANNING BY MANAGEMENT.  They really LOST TOUCH WITH THE CUSTOMERS that helped make them successful.  Now they are just gouging us, it just eats into our profits one little bit at a time.

You can save more money by going with the Simple Start plan instead of the Essentials, it is about $360/yr instead of over $650 for essentials.  https://quickbooks.intuit.com/pricing/

Even worse it’s $799.00 every year now! If you don’t pay in 2 years , I think, they will make it so you can’t get in to your QB file unless you pay. I am a sole proprietor just starting out and this is ridiculous.

Bookkeeper_65

As an independent bookkeeper I need certain features that are only available in the QB premier Accountant version. Specifically batch entry and reclassification of transactions. $550 a year is expensive but $799.00 is not affordable.
