Buy nowUsing QuickBooks Online. Entering a sales receipt and need to make a adjustment to a customers address. I change the address in that window and save. Next time I pull up that customer their address change is not saved and it reverts back to whatever the previous address was.
I have recently migrated from Desktop version where you could change a address in this window and it would ask you if you want to make the change permanent when you save. How do I turn this feature on for Online? There is no why I want to enter payments and then go into a customer database and change them individually there. I should be able to edit and change them in a sales receipt window.
SPECIFIC QUESTION FOR THE BOTS THAT POST RANDOM ANSWERS THAT DON"T MATCH QUESTIONS:
- How do I make sales receipt window address changes permanent to the customer's records.
I can help you achieve your goal for today, wolfme.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you have the option to enable the automation settings that allows the system to prefill the information that were previously entered on your transactions like sales receipts.
Here's how:

Ok, I'm not trying to be rude but did you read my question?
I want to be able to edit the ADDRESS on a sales receipt and have that saved as the customers updated address. I have tried the setting you mentioned. It was off before and my addresses were already pre-filling. So I have no idea what information this setting would pre-fill but it does noting the save changes made to a customer's address when changed on a sales receipt and saved. When I change it on the sales receipt it should auto change the permanent address or at least ask if I want to change the permanent one.
Again: I want changes to the address on the sales receipt to be permanent.
I appreciate you for clarifying things, wolfme.
Changing the address from the sales receipt will not automatically generate your customer's information. Thus, it'll not be saved as a permanent. The address field on the sales receipt is a flexible way to modify the details when creating a transaction. What we can do is change the address from the Customer information window. Here's how:
Then, I suggest sending your suggestion straight to our developers. They are working on other features and might consider this idea in the next release.

I appreciate your reading my question and understanding and clarifying there is no way to make permanent address changes through a sales receipt window.
With the way we used QBD the "Customer Database" window almost never gets opened because all those changes get saved right off sales receipts and invoices. Now as I start using QBO I will be forced to take additional time and steps to edit customer info off the main database for something that should be savable off invoices and sales receipts.
I have sent the feedback in but I am also realistic knowing how much of those kind of suggestions actually get looked at. I had issues with QBD on settings that didn't even work and was told it was something they were actively working on fixing. However, 3 years later I've moved to QBO and it still was never fixed. So if QB developers cannot fix things they say they are working on in 3 years I have no expectation they will even look at suggestions for basic features that should be there from the beginning.
Also I know you guys like to mark your own answers as the solution. I would clearly state that I do not accept any of these as the "solution" they are only explanations that my basic requests is not possible.
