Hello there, @efish123.

I have some insights about using Spreadsheet Sync in QuickBooks Online (QBO) so you can manage your data accordingly.

Spreadsheet Sync is an add-on feature available in the Advanced version of QBO. Yes, its list (invoices and bills) templates allow you to create new data, like vendor bills from Excel, to post to QBO. Then, you can pull that data into an Excel spreadsheet, edit it, and then post it back to QBO Advanced.

If you wish to learn more about how Spreadsheet Sync lets you sync Excel to your QBO Advanced account, please see this article: What's Spreadsheet Sync?.

Also, you may want to check out this article as your reference to guide you in resolving common errors when using Spreadsheet Sync in QBO: Spreadsheet Sync troubleshooting.

Please feel free to leave a comment below if you have other concerns about Spreadsheet Sync in QBO. I'm always ready to help. Take care, @efish123.

When creating a sync for Invoices and Bills that will sync back to Quickbooks, can you change the Invoices and Bills template to include additional sync data, such as tags.

Our goal is to load bill data from Quickbooks, change tags associated with those bills in Excel and then sync them back to update in Quickbooks. However, the "add and edit data" appears to have a fixed template for Invoices and Bills that does not include tags, and Note #8 says "Columns cannot be moved or changed".

I can get the tags by creating a custom report in Quickbooks and then use "Run a report" in Spreadsheet Sync, but that cannot sync back to Quickbooks. It appears there is no way to update tags in Quickbooks using Spreadsheet Sync. Is that correct?

It's great to have a fresh presence joining us in the QuickBooks Community forum, CERDX. I can provide details about modifying your bills and invoices using Excel and then syncing them to QuickBooks.

The option to load bill data from QuickBooks, change its tags in Excel, and then sync them back to update in QuickBooks isn't currently available. Nevertheless, we would love to have your ideas about having this functionality and recommend you submit a feature suggestion. Your input is a significant factor in addressing issues and improving our products. It also guides our development process and helps us ensure the best possible experience for all our customers.

I'll show you how to send one:

  1. Locate the Gear icon.
  2. Under Profile, choose Feedback.
  3. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  4. Hit the Next button.

You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about product enhancements by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

Your insights and ideas are valuable to us, CERDX. If you have any additional queries regarding the Spreadsheet Sync feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO), feel free to share them by commenting on this post. Take care always!

Let me guide you on how you can sync QuickBooks with Excel, pacbandc.

One of the advantage when you're able to synchronize one software to the other is that it stabilizes the incoming and outgoing data making sure it's updated and compliant across the board. Aside from the ability to access a piece of data when you need it, it also enhances your efficiency at work.

With QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced, you're able to open Spreadsheet Sync and sign in while working. Spreadsheet Sync works only with Excel Office 365.

You can use one of the following methods to install Spreadsheet Sync. To do so, you can follow the steps outlined below:

  • From the Reports tab:
    1. Select Business overview, then Reports.
    2. Select the Create new report ▼ dropdown and select in spreadsheet.

  • From Settings ⚙:
    • Select Spreadsheet Sync.

Then, allow the Spreadsheet Sync add-in:

  1. In the pop-up window, select Let’s Go.
  2. In the next pop-up window, select Open Link.
  3. Once Spreadsheet Sync downloads, it'll prompt Office 365 to open. Select Trust this add-in.
  4. Select Sign in.
  5. Enter your QuickBooks Online user ID and password.
  6. Select Sign in.

To give you more details about the process, you can also check out this article for detailed steps: Install And Open Spreadsheet Sync.

However, if you're using other versions of QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can work with your Excel file separately from QuickBooks and import or export data to or from Excel. I've added these articles that will show you the process:
