I followed the steps, but the message I added for the statement is not actually printing on the statement.  What am I missing?

I've got you covered, @grthomp11.

Follow these workaround steps to print a message on the statement:

  1. Open a Word Processing program.
  2. Go to the bottom of the page and input your message to the customer.
  3. Then, print the page having the message you just typed.
  4. Place the page containing the message back in the printer and print a statement on the same page. If you placed the message low enough on the page it should fall outside of the printed statement.
  5. This may require a bit of trial and error to ensure your message is not overlapping any of the statements. Once you get the message lined up correctly we recommend saving this document for future use.

Since this process uses a different program, for further assistance, please contact support for that program. For more info about the process, please proceed to the Printing a message on the statement section of this article: How to set up or change customer messages

Also, to get a list of all payments and invoices for each of your customers, you may pull up the Invoices and Received Payments Report. Then, customize it so it will only show the info you need.

If you need further assistance in managing your customer's statements in QuickBooks, please post here again. I'm always around to help you. More power to your business.

Why does such a large company like Quickbooks use these stupid message threads for support/help! Other companies don't do this. They simply have the staff experts create set answers for all the important features and list them as fact. If the software isn't simple enough for this to be done, then please fix it or hire more staff. This current method is like asking users for help because Quickbooks isn't able to come up with the right answers. I've looked at hundreds of these goofy threads and I'm literally baffled at the methodology. If this was a third party help forum that was trying to figure out complex workarounds with coding or a new technology, then OK. But these are message threads hosted by Quickbooks.

I followed your directions just now to see a sample.  It is only providing statements for our four donors who have emails.  Do you have a workaround?  Most of our donors receive paper statements only.  TY.

I am having problems with the end of the year report also as everyone has described. My Sales by Donor Detail is blank. I can make a Deposit Detail report that pulls all the information out I need but the Description. It will not pull the Description down into the report. I check one of the deposits where the information is entered and I see all 50 checks with descriptions entered for the day, but when I run the report every single Description is blank. How do I fix this? We have over 100 funds and over 10,000 donations for the year. Is there a work around for this issue? I really do not want to manually type in 10,000 descriptions.

I've got some troubleshooting suggestions to help you generate a Deposit Detail and Sales by Customer Detail report in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @calvaryassemblyo

First, ensure that you have selected the correct date range when running the report. Sometimes, reports can appear blank if the date range is not set correctly. If the dates are correct, you might be experiencing some browser-related issues. The system behaves strangely when the browser repeatedly accesses pages. It could be due to corrupted cache files in your browser which might also be the reason why the descriptions won't show in the Deposit Detail report.

To rectify this, let's access your QBO account using a private or incognito window so QuickBooks Online runs effectively. You can use these shortcut keys to access an incognito window:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

Once you've signed in, rerun the reports. If the information appears, that's a positive sign. You can then return to your regular browsing activities and clear the cache. If the issue persists, consider using other supported browsers to determine which one provides the optimal experience when using QuickBooks.

Moreover, here are some articles to learn specific ways to filter your report and focus on the details that matter the most:

Please let me know if you have follow-up questions about running reports in QuickBooks. Leave a reply and I'll be willing to answer them for you.

I am sorry. None of that worked for me. The Sales reports have never populated.

I did some playing around and found the Deposit Detail (modern view) will only display the Description which the report pulls the information from the Memo line at the bottom of the deposit. I needed the Description for each line item in the deposit displayed in the report.

It is not the browser. The report just does not offer the option I need. Without the line item descriptions, I will have to export the classic view to excel and sort the data manually. Not the most efficient, but at this point I am just happy to get the all the data out of QBO for our tax requirements. Thanks for trying.
