Why can't I click on a total in a report to get the details? That has been a great feature for years!
I don't see anything in the preferences to address this. What am I missing?

Hello, Donna.
I appreciate taking the time to clarify and provide more details about the issue. I'm dropping by to help you fix the QuickZoom feature on the Profit & Loss report.
Before we do the necessary troubleshooting steps. make sure you have the needed updates for the 2022 version. This can help us avoid any issues when using the program.
If you've already updated it, let's do the following steps to help you resolve the QuickZoom issue.
A high click speed can affect how programs' pop-up windows would behave. You also mentioned about the right-click function giving you the necessary details from the report.
If you've changed your mouse settings, you'll want to change them back to their default options. I'd recommend checking Microsoft's support channels or help pages for this.
Also if you're using a multi-monitor setup, you'll want to adjust your monitor settings. There are limitations when using this setup, and this might affect certain QuickBooks pages from popping up.
This article can guide you on what to change for your settings: Use QuickBooks on multiple screens or in Multi-Monitor mode.
You'll also want to drag and move QuickBooks to your primary monitor
If the QuickZoom function still won't work, then let's run the QuickBooks Tool Hub utility. Here's how:

I can share some information about running reports in QuickBooks Desktop, @Donna WLP.
Can you tell me more about the report that you're referring to? That will help me check here on my end.
It actually depends on the report that you're trying to generate. Just like the Profit & Loss Detail report, you can click on the Totals to open the Custom Transaction Detail report.
You can refer to the following article for more information about running and customizing any report that you generate: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
Check out this tutorial to learn how to make the same settings of a customized report available for future use: Create, access and modify memorized reports.
I'm always here if you need more help or follow-up questions about your reports. I'm always glad to help in any way I can. Have a great rest of the day!
I am looking at the P&L. I should be able to click on any dollar amount and see the detail, but I can't. When I right click, I get the font info, but when I left click nothing happens.
The quick zoom doesn't appear to be working, or is turned off.
I bought the 2021 version in June and noticed the problem. I just downloaded the 2022 version today, hoping that would fix the issue, but it has not.

If you're hovering over numbers on your P&L and the cursor is a magnifying glass with a z, then your quickzoom should work by double clicking(left button). Try double clicking things outside of QB to make sure your mouse is functioning correctly. If it is, I suggest starting with a logout of qb and a restart of your PC. I have qb desktop and have never encountered that issue but I have had team members who's mouse stops functioning correctly.
YES!!! It was the multiple monitors that did it. I didn't even realize that I could have made it work if I had opened the report on the main screen.
I set the screen size the same and clicked the multiple monitors button and it works great.
Thanks for your help!
I had this same issue with the missing Quickzoom tool. Moving my quickbooks window back on to my primary (laptop) monitor was the answer for me. Can't use my HUGE monitor then. QB wants me to squint so I'll need glasses.
