Reports

Is there a way to pull a comparison P&L using 2 different sets of dates? Our Accounting month is not a calendar month. I would like to compare our July 2021 info to July 2022 info. These accounting months are different dates.

Hi there, @HBrooklyn.

I can certainly understand how a Profit and Loss report that shows one date range compared to another could be useful. Let me share a workaround on how you can achieve this.

You'll want to export both reports and combine them in Excel. This way, you can analyze them by comparing the company's performance for the two different sets of dates.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Choose Company & Financial and select Profit and Loss Standard.
  3. Customize the date to show info for July 2021.
  4. Click the Excel dropdown menu and then Create New Worksheet.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for July 2022 info.

You may also share your thoughts and ideas about this through your account. Our product development team reviews all the feedback we receive to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers.

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Choose Send Feedback Online and select Product Suggestion.

  3. Click the Product Area drop-down menu and select a category.
  4. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  5. Select Send Feedback.

Finally, you may memorize them to save your current customization settings for future use.

Please let me know if you need further assistance with customizing your reports in the way your business needs. I'm always here to assist. Have a wonderful day.

Thank you for the suggestion, this is what I have been doing. The only issue is that if you don't have the same line items, it is hard to compare side by side. I am looking for a report that I wont have to manually manipulate.

Thank you for coming back to us, @HBrooklyn.

It would be helpful to have a report that shows different sets of dates in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). Since it is currently unavailable, I’d recommend sending feedback to our development team. They will review all the feedback we receive to ensure we’re meeting the needs of our customers.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select "Send Feedback Online" and then choose "Product Suggestion."
  3. Enter your suggestion.
  4. Hit "Send Feedback."

Please let me know if you have any additional ideas or concerns about reports. I'm always here to help. Take care.
