How do you go about getting a copy of a 941 form from a previous year if you left desktop and went to online?

Thanks for getting in touch with the Community, DIMP.

You'll be able to download a free trial version of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) from our Download a trial of QuickBooks article. After doing so, you can open your company file to obtain a copy of the 941 form.

Once you've installed it, you can open your company file.

Here's how:

  1. Open QuickBooks.
  2. Click Open or Restore existing company file.
  3. Find the .QBW file on your computer.
  4. Choose it an select Open.

You can additionally locate 941 forms on the computer. There's a folder titled "(Company Name) Tax Form History" which has all of your payroll forms you've printed. By default, QuickBooks saves them to Users>(User Name)>Public Documents>Intuit>QuickBooks>Company Files. You can navigate to this location by using File Explorer and moving to your C drive, where you'll find the Users folder.

You'll also be able to find many detailed resources about using QuickBooks in our help article archives.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have an awesome Wednesday!
