Can we please have clarification on the popup menu stating:
"Access to QuickBooks Desktop will be permanently terminated in May 2024. UK Customers on QuickBooks Desktop (version 2016 - 2021) will soon permanently lose access to their account from May 2024 onwards as this service was terminated last year. Therefor you'll soon be unable to login and use your Desktop product."
We use Quickbooks Desktop Pemier 2020 UK in South Africa with an active License, no subscription.
Will we still have access after May 2024?
If you are using QB Desktop 2020 UK with a non subscription license, you should be fine after this month. Make sure to secure several backup files at the end of the month.
I can see the urgency of your concern about discontinuation and would be happy to provide clarification, Tans.
QuickBooks Desktop versions of 2016 and above with a non-subscription will be discontinued after May 31, 2023. However, you can still access your company files in your QuickBooks Desktop after May 2024 for recording purposes. You can continue using the software to record transactions and manage your financial data. For extra details, see this article: QuickBooks Desktop service discontinuation policy.
On the other hand, consider migrating to QuickBooks Online (QBO). Rest assured that your account balance is intact despite having some feature gaps between the two programs. To determine if QBO is the right product for you, you can take advantage of our free 30-day trial. Beforehand, always secure a backup copy of your file to avoid data loss.
If you're ready to move your books, I suggest checking out this guide: Prepare your QuickBooks Desktop file for migration to QuickBooks Online.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns about discontinuation. I'm here to assist you. Have a great day!
I lost access to my quickbooks desktop administrator company file, there is absolutely no support to assist with getting back into the file, I got an error code and followed the prompts to try and get into it but it seems that it will not allow me passed the online registration page which is necessary so needless to say nothing worked!!! I have just recently purchased QBO and I'm trying to navigate that but it's really not as user friendly as the desktop version. I'm currently in the process of manually preparing my files to import to the QBO platform via my additional users account but I don't think I will be able to move everything over. Word of advice BACK UP everything in excel/csv as this is the only file types that will allow you to move your data over to QBO also I would suggest using the trial version of QBO and getting familiar with it, once you're kicked off the desktop version, that's it, there's no way back unless you purchase from a 3rd party outside of SA and still there will only be support for a certain amount of time and the costs are ridiculously high.

Which 3rd party service provider do you mean?
If your budget to convert data is limited, you can use the trial version of QB Desktop 2021 for good to access your historical data. Then you can start from scratch in QB Online.
