Setting up multiple accounts using the same user ID

If I already have an account set up, how do I link to the same user ID so that I can easily switch between accounts?  I have two accounts under the same user ID and one account under a different user ID.  All of these accounts are separate companies.  However, I would like to easily switch between accounts.  I know you can use the same user ID when setting up a new account, but what if the account is already up and running and you want to link it to that user ID?

Setting up multiple accounts using the same user ID

I'd be glad to share the steps on how to add a second QBO account, dedicateduser.

You can also use the same user ID so it would be easier to switch between accounts. Here's how:

Visit the QuickBooks pricing page and select the subscription option you want. This opens one of two experiences:

  • If you're signed in to QuickBooks, you’ll be asked to confirm the account you want to sign in with. If the account displayed is the one you want to use for the new company file, select Yes, that’s correct.
  • If you haven’t signed in recently,  you’ll be asked to create an Intuit account. Don't fill this out unless you want to connect your new company file to a new account. Below "Buy QuickBooks Online" select Add another company. Sign in with the user ID and password you already use for QuickBooks.

Then, follow the on-screen instructions on how to create a new company file. Once done, go to the Gear or Settings ⚙ icon, and then select Switch company.

I'd also like to share these articles for more references when managing your accounts:

You can also use your main browser and private/incognito browser to open multiple QBO accounts at the same time. So, if you have Edge, Chrome, and Firefox, you can open up to 6 accounts at the same time.
