Are journal entry numbers editable?

Yes, it's possible to edit journal entry numbers, lydia. I'll guide you how.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can manually change or assign the entry numbers in the designated box. Then, whenever you create a new one, the system automatically increases it by one based on the last number entered. 

To manually edit the journal entry number, refer to the steps below:

1. Click +New and choose Journal entry.
2. Select the recent arrow button in the upper left corner. Then, open the entry you want to edit.
3. On the Journal no. box, manually change or assign a number. You can add letters together with numbers.
4. After making the necessary changes, hit Save.
   
   

As of now, we haven't received soft update issue reports on editing journal entries. Sometimes, the accumulated cache files in your browser can cause unexpected issues, such as the one you encountered. To sort this out, let's perform basic troubleshooting steps. Start by opening a private browser or an incognito window on your QBO account. Based on your browser type, please refer to the keyboard shortcuts below:

• Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
• Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
• Safari: Command + Shift + N

After signing in, revisit and access your journal entry. If this resolves the problem, return to your default browser and clear the cache to refresh the page. You can also use other supported browsers.
