while trying to add a receipt to be added as a reimbursable expense, I get a note saying "something went wrong. You need to select a different type of account for this transaction." when I change it, I get the same note.

Hi there, @relaxneatllc.

Let's edit the receipt details to select an account for a specific transaction and get past the Something Went Wrong prompt.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking tab, then select Receipts.
  2. Locate the receipts, then click the small drop-down arrow under Action and choose Review.
  3. Choose either a bank or a credit card in the Bank/Credit account box.
  4. Click Save and close

For future reference on how to send a receipt to get them into QuickBooks Online. Take time to read this great article: Email your receipts to QBO.
