Question

Unable to run Payroll after Sept 13

Hello,

Since I am unable to verify the banking information and link the bank account to QuickBooks because the owner does not have an SSN, how should I proceed in this situation?

I am concerned about potentially losing access to QuickBooks Payroll after September 13th if the bank account cannot be verified and linked. Could you please advise on the best course of action?

Thank you.

To clarify, you will not lose access to your QuickBooks Payroll account when the September 13 deadline passes. Only direct deposit and automated tax services will be suspended. QuickBooks Online requires the business owner's SSN to comply with federal banking regulations, verify identity, and authorize tax filings on their behalf. Since it is not available, they can proceed paying employees by paper check.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to All apps and select Payroll.
  2. Go to Employees and click Run payroll.
  3. Select your preferred pay schedule and click Continue.
  4. Choose the employee and change their pay method from Direct deposit to Paper check.
  5. Click Preview for 1 employee to check the details.
  6. Once everything looks correct, click Submit payroll.
  7. After that, click Print pay stub.

To get an SSN, your employer can start their application on the Social Security Administration website.
