QuickBooks Q&A

Went into QB online to reconcile my business checking account and was presented with a message saying that an error occurred with my linked Citizens Bank connection - made sense since I saw no new transaction appearing in my Review list after several attempts to force updates. I went into the Linked Account / Manage Account facility, selected the bank/connection in error, selected the "Fix It" option that was presented and after reestablishing the connection with my bank, QB created a new/duplicate bank account with a slightly different name than my original. Wondering how to best handle this situation... Do I someone disconnect and remove the new bank account (and they try to fix the connection with my original account that has decades of transaction history I need to retain) or is there a way to merge the two and move forward with creating further issues. No enough about QB to make myself dangerous, but don't consider myself an expert by any stretch. Would
I have all of my credit cards set up as "credit card" accounts in QB. Whenever I make a payment to the credit card accounts, it reduces the liability in the COA, but it does not reflect on the P&L sheet. Therefore, my net income is over- stated. I am using the "pay down credit card" feature. For example, If my profit was $10,000 and I paid $4000 on my credit card, the $4000 payment should reflect as an expense and be posted with the $6000 net income to the P&L, right? If not, how do you keep track of your ACTUAL expenses?Everything else posts to the profit and loss expect the credit card payments. Is this how QB does their record keeping or am I missing something?
Hi - I was instructed by our accountant to force rec on unreconciled statements back from 2020 so I could go back in on 2021 and reconcile those months properly. I did that, however, the beginning balance of 1/31/2021 is now the negative "cleared balance" amount from that forced rec. I made the 'ending balance' the same ending balance as the December 2020 statement. How can I move forward and start 2021 clean?

What happened to the automatic match selecting for sales receipts in my bank deposits? I used to be able to select a date range for my sales receipts that haven't been matched and it would automatically find them. Rarely I would have to manually match them. This is very cumbersome now that it's missing. It's gone away after recent updates to the match selection screen. Am I missing something?
I had everything reconciled to date and old items keep showing up when I try to reconcile the new month. If I remove the item, I get an error that an old reconciliation is now out of balance, so I have to put it back and mark it clear in the register, so it won't have a prior month out of balance, but the transaction is still showing up when I try to reconcile the current month. Where can I find what is going wrong within the system? Everything looks correctly deposited and applied from my end.
Complex Verification Issue: Seeking Assistance from the QuickBooks CommunityHello QuickBooks Community,I’m reaching out after encountering a challenging situation with my account verification process, which, despite my best efforts and extensive communication with support (over 5 hours on the phone), remains unresolved. I deleted a previously reconciled expense item and my reconciliation is erroring out. Can we re-enter it into QB or what else can we do so we can reconcile?
I about 20 Chase Bank accounts which link in quickbooks online just fine. When I go into Link Account - Manage Connections, I see all my Chase accounts except the two I am trying to add. If I toggle one off and back on, it asks me which accounts I want to connect and it shows me my already connected accounts. Itthen shows me 4 accounts that I do not want to link as it has nothing to do with my business. It does not show the 2 accounts that were setup about 30 days ago at Chase that I actually want to add. Chase assures me they are linkable with QB. Is there any way to deactivate the entire Chase Bank feed and reactivate it to see if that will do the trick? Any other ideas?

I have an error stating CitiBusiness Online has made a change but have tried calling both them and Intuit and both say its something on the other end and no one is taking ownership. Anyone else having this issue or found a resolution? When I try and relink the account they are no longer showing as an available bank. Thanks
A payment on a invoice is being matched, which that part is correct. However, there was a $10 bank transfer fee that was taken out so QB is asking to split the transaction and categorize the fee. So I choose Bank Charges as the category, click Match, and then I get a message that says "Somethings not quite right". I've never had this issue until they began implementing their AI software. Does anyone have a work around?I reached out to Quickbooks technical support, and immediately they're trying to sign me up for the $59.95 Live Help. I have a screen recording but its too large to attach here.
How to fix the automatic mileage tracker to log my mileage
QuickBooks Accounting iOS app crashes when opening expense PDF attachments. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no effect. Crashing started about 1 month ago.

It seems QBO cannot leave well enough alone. A whole new type pf payee, Contractors has been added and it would apear on the surface that your 1099 vendors must be now moved to or duplicated as Contractor (we all know duplicate names are a no-no so append a period to end of one of the names). But the Contractor tab does pull over only Vendors designated as 1099 https://community.intuit.com/articles/1637708 Of course this will be more confusing to not only small businesses that only have Employees and Vendors (no sub-contractors) that they have no direct dashboard access anymore to their Employees as well as businesses who will think that contractors are employees or worse, will mislabel employees as contractors I guess what bothyers me most, not that one has to collect info to begin with (contractor email) to offer them the opportunity to enter their own info but that one does not get a printed hard copy W-9 to keep in your records.
In the morning today 3/25/2024 I processed a sales receipt without any problems. By the afternoon, some sort of update had taken place requiring a tax location on each item added to a sales receipt. When I would try to assign a tax location, the whole transaction would cancel out and I would be back to the customer screen. I thought this had to be a mistake. Why in the world would it be necessary to assign a tax rate to each individual item on every sales receipt? Isn't a tax location for the whole sales receipt enough? I then deleted and downloaded QBO, but this time it was even worse: All the tax rates were gone. So then I called Intuit and the rep told me that Intuit does not support the App. This whole thing has brought my mobile business to a grinding halt. I don't know if there is a way out of this. I just don't understand how Intuit can treat its customers this way.
Today the QuickBooks application on iPhone 15 iOS 17.2.1 crashes when trying to download or open an attachment. I’ve tried with my phone and spouses. Responds the same. Offloaded the app, restarted phone, redownloaded. And the same … crashes app and goes to apples Home Screen. No warning just blinks off. I’m in the vendor section of Quickbooks app and tap the paperclip and crashes. Help?
When I launch the app on both iPhone and iPad the starter screen appears then immediately shuts down. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and restarted both devices multiple times.
I get it. Security is important, but who decided....When user is logged out every 3 hours due to inactivity, logging back in to a tab takes that user back to the home screen instead of reopening where the tab last was.....Why does every other open tab still needs refreshed - seems that logging in should refresh all automatically. And when another open tab is refreshed after inactivity, why does it also reverts back to the home screen?Don't most users have 4-5 tabs open minimum during sessions? Who thunk forcing every one of us to remember and reopen all tabs to get back to where we were was a good idea?.Lastly, can that person be forced to use QBO desktop app? I figure that is when this obvious shortfall will be fixed? And why did this 3 hour signout start happening only a week ago - hasn't been a problem all year long.
The only option I get is Start Employee Self Set up?
Before the hard switch to the Modern Reporting, reports were exported to excel with the account grouping intact. Since the change reports only export flat with no option to update it. This has impacted the consistency of reporting across periods. Would like to know if the export with grouping will be restored.
When creating a report it defaults to the modern layout. Then when you switch the layout to Classic View. It does not stay in the Classic view. Once to the Classic View and you want to for example open an expense account that report opens back up in the Modern view. This is frustrating as the Modern reporting is not what I want to view the report in. Is there a way to make the Classic report the permanent default layout?
