Expenses by Vendor Summary report.......NOT IN OUR VERSION!

More a comment than a question.  I spent over an hour trying to get an "Expenses by Vendor Summary" report in QBO.  No help was helpful as it all said to go the Reports section and choose that report.  Problem is, it IS NOT in my Reports section.  I finally thought to search "Reports included with QBO Simple Start".  Come to find out that report is not included in the plan my clients pay for.  One, that's a pretty basic report to not be included....shame on you Intuit.  And two, NEVER in any help by Intuit or the Community did anyone EVER suggest that some reports don't come with all subscription levels.  If Intuit answers a question about a report or other option,  it should be in the first lines which subscription levels will not be able to use that report or option.  Nothing more frustrating than help that tells you to choose something that doesn't show up on your screen as a choice!!!

Hello there, @8110Bookkeeping.

Thanks for sharing your sentiments with us today. I understand how you feel about the inability of Expenses by Vendor Summary report on you QuickBooks subscription.

Since, this report is only available in Essentials and Plus version, I'd recommend upgrading your subscription to enjoy the service. You'll want to check out the available pricing plans to see which subscription level is right for you.

Then, follow the steps to upgrade your subscription:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as a primary or company admin, then go to the Settings menu.
  2. Click the Account and settings section, then go to the Billing & subscription tab.
  3. Make sure your payment info is up to date, then select Upgrade your plan.
  4. Review the available plans, then select Choose plan.
  5. Follow the on-screen steps to upgrade your plan.

Here's an article that will guide you on what reports included in your QuickBooks Online subscription.

Should you want to share your comments and suggestions in the future, I recommend sending them directly to our Development team to help us improve your QuickBooks experience.

Here's how:

  1. In the top menu bar, go to HelpSend Feedback Online, then Product Suggestion.
  2. Choose a Type of Feedback and Product Area (optional) from the available drop-down menus.
  3. Enter any suggestions/feedback in your Here is my suggestion: field.
  4. Select Send Feedback

You can also send your feedback directly to our developers by filling out our QuickBooks Feedback form. Simply enter your request/suggestions, and rest assured that all our suggested plans are subject to further study.

Keep in touch if you have follow-up questions about managing your reports in QuickBooks. I'm always here to listen and help in any way I can.

Thanks.  I know how to upgrade but my clients don't want to pay an extra $300 per year to get one report that we use just a few times a year.  I will go the "long way" around and figure out what I need to know manually.

And my main comment/feedback is NOT for the Development team.....it is for the Support team.  YOU guys need to change how you respond to people looking for help.  My frustration was mainly with the fact that it was never mentioned that I might need a certain version of QBO to get that report.  If you reference features which are only available on certain versions, you should state that.  It would reduce the frustration level of your customers a lot.

Hi @8110Bookkeeping,

Rishika here from Better Reports!

I think our app Better Reports can show this easily. I have attached a screenshot below that shows the sample month-wise expense summary by vendor.

Also, there are other built-in reports available like “Balance sheet”, “Profit and Loss by Class”, “Profit & Loss by Account”, etc. We can create custom reports as well, based on your business requirements.

It is also possible to filter the report for a specific period, and schedule the reports to be sent automatically to your email or Google drive at a regular cadence.

What do you think?
