Link Sales Order to P.O

Is there a way I create Sales order and then link it to P.O. And then based on event I trigger payment to Vendor.

I always want to see payment pending against P.O and see if I have received amount from customer against the P.O

Hi there, @Dil3600.

Welcome to the Community. I can provide some clarification about creating sales orders.

Currently, the ability to create a sales order in QuickBooks Online is unavailable. The only option is to create an estimate and copy it to a purchase order.

First, you'll need to turn on the purchase order feature. Here's how:

Go to Settings ⚙, then select Account and Settings.
Go to Expenses.
Select the pencil ✎ icon in the Purchase orders section.
Select Use purchase orders.
Select Save.

Once done, you can proceed with copying an estimate to a purchase order. Please follow these steps:

Select + New.
Choose Estimate.
Enter customer and product or service details. Then select Save.
A drop-down choice of Create invoice or Copy to purchase order will appear next to the amount.
Choose Copy to purchase order.
Select a Vendor.
In the Item details section, select the same customer used on the purchase order.
Select Save and close.

Please note that only items marked as purchased from vendors get copied over to purchase orders. Verify that your products or services are marked accordingly through these steps:

Click the Gear icon in the upper-right, then choose Products and Services.
Find the product or service. Then select Edit.
In the Purchasing information section, select the I purchase this product/service from a vendor checkbox.
Select Save.

Is there a way to do this but with a Sales Receipt to Purchase Order ?

Thanks for looping in, @ jlclark137. I can help share some insights regarding linking sales forms in QuickBooks Online.

I understand the importance of being able to link the Sales receipt to the Purchase order. At this time, as my colleague mentioned above, we can only create an estimate and copy it to a PO. Thus, the feature you’ve specified is unavailable.

As a workaround, you can use a custom field to add the PO numbers in the sales receipt window. This will give you more flexibility to add custom data and drive insights through detailed reports.
