Hi total novice here. The question is, I have several receipts from a supplier (B&Q) and i want to add them to an invoice for my job I have not yet finished.

I would like to total all receipts and then add labour to then send as one bill.

I can upload receipts and create an invoice but am struggling to work out haw to add them both together.

The receipts you upload are used to record and track your expenses in QuickBooks, but they do not automatically appear as invoice line items. You’ll first need to make sure the receipts are recorded under the correct customer/job and, if available in your plan, mark them as billable so these costs are pulled into the invoice when you create it.

However, with QuickBooks Sole Trader, Self- Employed, and Solopreneur, the billable expense feature is currently unavailable. As a workaround, you can manually add the total material cost from your supplier receipts as a line item on the invoice and add your labour charge as a separate line item.

You can also include the receipts as Attachments to the invoice or keep them connected to the relevant transactions as supporting records for your reference.

On another note, consider upgrading to QuickBooks Online Plus or Advanced to take advantage of this feature and enhance your workflow. This way, once a receipt is uploaded and reviewed, you can create an expense transaction that links to the receipt. You can mark that expense as billable, so when an invoice is generated, it reflects the appropriate charges.
