This error means a payroll account (likely "Payroll 1" with ID 76) was deleted, and payroll transactions are now orphaned.
To fix this, first check for deleted or inactive accounts. Here's how:
- Go to the Gear icon, then select Chart of Accounts.
- In Settings, check Include inactive.

- Look for accounts with "(deleted)" in the name — specifically anything named "Payroll 1" or similar payroll expense accounts.
Next, restore the deleted account by finding "Payroll 1 (deleted)", clicking the dropdown next to it, and selecting Make active. If the account was fully deleted (not just inactive), you may need to recreate it with the exact same name.
After restoring, return to the payroll sync error and try syncing again. If the issue persists, we suggest contacting our Payroll Support team to look into what's causing this sync issue. Here's how to reach Payroll Support:
- Go to the (?) Help icon, then select the Search tab.
- Choose Contact Us.
- Briefly describe your concern in the box and click Continue.
- Choose your preferred support option: Appointment, Chat, or Callback.
