Changing the password in a QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) company file requires logging in as an administrator, France.

This issue can occur if it is password-protected due to security settings applied by another user.

To reset a user’s password and regain access, please follow these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop and sign in as the admin user.
  2. Navigate to the Company menu and select Set Up Users and Passwords.
  3. Choose Set Up Users and enter the admin password again.
  4. In the User List, select the user whose password you want to change, then click Edit User.
  5. Enter a new password, click Next twice, and then select Finish.

If you need to recover the admin password, you can follow the steps outlined in this article: Reset your password for QuickBooks Desktop. Afterward, feel free to proceed with any additional troubleshooting steps if necessary.
