(QB Premier Acct 2021)
Hello there, slhiltz.
Let’s run the QuickBooks File Doctor to fix any issues you encounter while working in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). This tool detects errors and fixes them automatically. I’ll help and guide you on how to perform the process.
To begin, download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Then access the QuickBooks File Doctor from there.
Here’s how:
Once done, launch your QuickBooks and go to the File menu and click on it. If you continue to get the same result, perform Steps 3 up to 5 in this article: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor. You’ll also see the instructions on how to use the QuickBooks File Doctor in this resource.
In case you encounter any hurdles while using QuickBooks, the links below contain solutions on how to troubleshoot when you’re unable to access your company file. You’ll also see the steps to resolve unrecoverable errors.
Reach out to me again if you have other QuickBooks concerns, especially in using the menus in the company file. I’m more than happy to assist further. Have a good one and stay safe.
Thank you for this info. I downloaded the tool and ran the software.
Unfortunately it would not work with my data files being on a NAS (Network Assisted Server). Once I moved the files to my local hard drive the tool would 'see' them. Curiously, the tool asked to check file and/or network, yet it would not acknowledge the network.. Then it asked if on a Server or Workstation, which seems to be mute since not recognized. Both selections resulted in the same response that the files were not able to be shared.
Once on my local drive, the files do work quicker and the file menu opens properly. Obviously, this is problematic as the files cannot be moved back and forth each time you need to use them. Seems the problem is the software working in a NAS environment. Would you have suggestions for this?
You may need to explore a 3rd party solution to let QB Desktop run with NAS.
