Changing a fixed payroll item's account only affects postings moving forward, Marco.

When you update a payroll item's account in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Payroll, the new account will only apply to future payroll calculations and postings, ensuring that changes are recognized moving forward. However, this update does not retroactively adjust past entries, as historical transactions will still be tied to the original account.

If you want previous transactions to reflect the updated account, manual editing or reclassification is required.

Don’t hesitate to revisit this thread if you have follow-up questions.

That is not correct. You didn't even try it, did you?

For the US version of QuickBooks, when you change the account or accounts on a payroll item, you will be prompted and asked what you'd like to happen. You can change the accounts on all the transactions, all the transactions on or after a specific date, or for none of the transactions.

I suspect Canada is similar, though I'm not sure.
