While reclassifying the tax code I am getting this error- We can't reclassify the tax code as you selected a tax code without a purchase rate for a purchase transaction.

What this is for? I have tried resetting the tax code but doesn't worked out.

Good morning, rajiv-panchal-en.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community for support. I'd be happy to help.

Can you tell me if you get the same results when you try in a private browser, as sometimes browsing data can accumulate on your system and prevent the software from doing what it is supposed to do.

Ill be one message away.

Good morning, Amanda-B

Thanks for replying.

I have tried with a private browser and the other laptop but failed to reclassify.

Hi there. Thanks for reaching back to us. I'll be happy to assist you from here. There are two possible causes to that error. This is caused by transactions without the following:

  • Out of Scope is selected from the Amounts are drop-down.
  • 0% or Out of Scope is chosen from the GST column.

You can locate these transactions on your account by running a Transactions without tax report. Here's how:

  1. Go to Taxes on the left panel.
  2. From the View reports drop-down, select Transactions without tax Report.
  3. Click each transaction and make sure that Exclusive of tax or Inclusive of tax is selected from the Amounts are drop-down.
  4. Choose the tax code from the GST column.
  5. Hit Save and close.

From here, navigate back to Taxes > Prepare return and check if you see the tax on purchases. Let me know what happens when you try this. I'll be a message away.
