Working Trial Balance Report

Relatively new to QBO but been in accounting for 20 years.  Looking for Working Trial Balance Report - (per account - opening numbers, transactions during the period, closing numbers).  Was not able to find it.  Borh Trial Balance and ADJ Trial Balance cannot be customized to show transactions or opening numbers.  Is it called something different.  Looks like Indian version has it build in (according to Google).  Found WorkPapers report that has opening and closing numbers but no transactions and only gives me FY.  Looking for report that would give me the info I am looking for monthly.

Appreciate pointing me in the right direction.

Thank you

Hello @slav ,

Are you using a QBO Accountant Version?  If not, the working papers are not available.  If you do have the Accountant Version of QBO, see below.

How to access WorkPapers

  1. Login into the QuickBooks Online Accountant firm where you'll see the client you were granted access to.
  2. Select the hyperlink text under the WorkPapers column, or if you're logged into the client file, visit the link: How to access WorkPapers

Select the hyperlink text under the WorkPapers column, or if you're logged into the client file, visit the link: https://ca.qbo.intuit.com/app/trialbalance.

The screen will display a Working Trial Balance. You can adjust entries by clicking on the + button. You can also browse for documents, drag and drop, or leave notes for team members under the WorkPapers column.

Thank you for your reply.  Need some help following your instructions.

1) I am using QBO Accountant.

2) I know how to get to Workpapers but is does not give me what I need as you cannot change the dates from fiscal year to quaters.

3) https://c5.qbo.intuit.com/app/workpaper gives me Page not found error.

This is as far as I was able to get but obviously doing something wrong or using a different version of QBO (ca.obo becomes c5.qbo in my case)

Any ideas?

Thank you

Thanks for trying Rochelley.  I think that there is a misunderstanding of what I am asking and what you are helping with.  The Trial Balance report works fine and I know how to use it.  I am asking about Working Trial Balance report that is different from Trial Balance as it contain the opening numbers for each account as well as summary of all Debits and all Credits for each account.  It is useful when you need to close the quarter end (or any period) as it easy to find errors and mis-posting.    "Working Trial Balance in Quickbooks" in google returns instructions how to access it but brings it to India QBO.  Is there a similar report in CA version or some other report that would give me :

AccountOpen BalanceDebitCreditCredit

for any period I choose ?

Thank you

Hi @slav

I'm not aware of any.  Sorry I couldn't help you with the Working Papers . . . I haven't had to use them for quite awhile and simply don't remember much.  Someone else on the forums may be able to help you though.  The moderators may yet reply to your inquiry.

Hi

When I tried to download the TB with all adjustments, all the data is not getting pulled and providing a report due to which TB is showing a mismatch whereas there is no mismatch in the TB. Kindly help.

Hello DeepaMoz,

Reports are a great way to get a sense of the figures in your books and having a sharp eye for details helps ensure their accuracy. I appreciate you including the screenshot of your Working Trial Balance report and I want to make sure you get the answers you need.

Having more details about how you're expecting your numbers to appear versus how they are will help us with knowing how to direct you in this situation. I see from your screenshot that the URL has c17, which signals to me you're using QuickBooks Online for India's region. In light of that, I recommend getting in touch with India's support team for assistance with your report. Here's how to reach them: QuickBooks Online India Contact Us page

You can also consider posting your question in India's QuickBooks Community. There, you'll be sure you're connecting with other users with the same QuickBooks Online interface as you who may be able to help you out.

Wishing you the best!

Hi candidapabbs.

Having your QuickBooks Online account work the way it was intended is one of our primary concerns. I'd be happy to help you with getting your Trial Balance Report working.

When a feature of your QuickBooks Online isn't working the way it was intended it could be due to your browsers health. Sometimes your cache and cookies can get damaged or corrupted and this causes your internet browser to not show websites using the correct information. To fix this you'd need to clear your cache and cookies and try opening your QuickBooks in a private browser such as Google Chrome's Incognito mode.

If neither of these options fix this I recommend contacting our support team for further assistance. You can reach them using one of the following methods:

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
Social MediaFacebookTwitter, and Instagram.
Support hours are from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

Have a great day!
