HSBC bank needs security code for every bank feed update - plus other issues

Every time I run the bank feed update I need to reconnect my HSBC account using the HSBC security code. That was working until this morning when it pulled the new balance but not the transactions. I edited the banking connection and then it pulled through the transactions correctly.

I've read so much about the bank connections over the last few months, when will we at least have some indication of when this might all be fixed?

This is the error I get every time:

Complete some security steps for HSBC Bank (UK) - Business Banking

Then we’ll get your latest transactions. (185)

HSBC bank needs security code for every bank feed update - plus other issues

Hello Karl,

At present, there have been issues with HSBC connection to open banking it was working then they changed something which broke the connection so customers had to go back onto the old feed. Our banking engineers have been working with HSBC to get this issue resolved and back on to the new open banking feed, which we are hoping will be at the end of July if everything goes to plan.

Hello KH29,

Welcome to the Community page,

With the HSBC connection being on the standard feed you have to put the token in every day. So it is working as designed.

Hi, seen I have the same issues and just trying QB out on a small company, before deployment on a different company I’m curious to see if this gets solved before the end of the month.

Hello Basa71,

Welcome to the Community page,

Soon as we get any updates on this we will inform our customers, but at present, our engineers are saying hopefully by the end of July, might be sooner but most likely they are hoping for the end of July for it to be resolved for your customers.

HSBC bank needs security code for every bank feed update - plus other issues

Hi,

We are now in the beginning of August, I am still having the same issues with pulling the bank feed from HSBC. Is the something at the side of HSBC or QB?

Thanks,

Bastiaan

Hello, @Basa71.

The ongoing investigation (INV-44117) with HSBC Business Banking connectivity is still tagged as open and our engineers are continuing to work with your bank to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. At this time, you can prepare temporarily prepare an Excel CSV file and import it to your QuickBooks account to bring your bank transactions.

To manually upload the file:

  1. Look for your bank account from the Banking page.
  2. Select File upload from the Update drop-down.

To learn more, check out this article: Import bank transactions using Excel CSV files.

I also recommend getting in touch with our Support Team so a representative can add your account to the list of affected users and automatically receive email notification of the latest updates.
