Im self employed and I recently started with the app so looking to set myself up. My first question is,

Can I not manually add my earnings? If so, I dont see the option for it, only to connect.

Secondly, im banking with Santander, am I meant to use the same login details to connect on there?

Thanks
Stefan

Thank you for getting in touch with the Community about your concerns related to adding your earnings and connecting your Santander account to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), stefanbest. I'm here to help everything go smoothly for you.

Yes, you can manually add transactions in QBSE and record them as income. For the specific category, we recommend contacting your accountant for further advice on which one to use. When you're ready, let's navigate to the Transactions screen to track the entries.

Here's how:

  1. Log in to your QBSE account.
  2. Navigate to the Transactions menu on the left panel and click on Add Transaction.
  3. Enter the amount of your earnings and add a description to detail the source of your earnings.
  4. Choose the appropriate category for the entry from the dropdown menu.
  5. Click Save to keep the transaction.

When connecting your Santander account to QBS, use the same login credentials you utilize for your online banking. This ensures that QuickBooks can securely access your transaction data from your bank. For detailed instructions, refer to this guide: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Thanks Rasa,

Regarding the bank connection, I followed your advice but it's not letting me connect. Just says the details are not correct and using the same details to log into my own Santander of course work.

Hello there again, stefanbest0794.

Let's perform another troubleshooting step so you can link your Santander account to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). I'm here to help ensure everything goes smoothly for you.

To begin, head to your bank's website and copy the URL. Next, open your QBSE company, and connect your Santander account from there.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the profile ⚙ icon and choose Connect bank.
  2. In the search box, enter the URL of your Financial Institution (FI) and click the Continue button.
  3. Enter the login information you use for your bank's website.
  4. Once ready, select Connect.

Check this link for more in-depth information about the process: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If you're still unable to link the account, I recommend contacting our QBSE support team for further assistance. When you successfully download the transactions into your company, categorise them correctly to keep your records in order.

Stay in touch if you need guidance navigating QBSE or have other banking-related concerns or questions. We'll get back to provide the help you need.

Managed to fix it, needed to select Santander and Cahoot.
