beginning balance error

I've been trying to reconcile my bank account for February and just doubled checked the opening balance to make sure it's correct but I realised it's wrong. I can only see how to edit the ending balance. How can I change the opening balance so it's correct?

I'm here to help you edit your opening balance. It only takes a few clicks, and you'll be a pro in no time, @abigail-oborne-g.

I'll make sure that your opening is corrected immediately. That way, you can reconcile your March data transparently.

Opening balance is one of the most dominant data in reconciling an account. Don't worry, you can modify this on the Account History page.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab on the left side and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate your bank in the list and click the Account history hyperlink.
  3. Click the small drop-down arrow beside the funnel and type Opening Balance in the Find field.
  4. Hit Apply
  5. Double-click the transaction and edit the amount.
  6. Select Save when done.

For more details, check out this article: Edit an incorrect opening balance.

Once done, you may now reconcile your bank. You can also visit the link below for more insights about fixing issues during reconciliation: Fix issues when you're reconciling accounts in QuickBooks Online.

In addition, see the following articles on how to print reconciliation reports and troubleshoot accounts that you reconciled in the past:

Let me know if you need clarification about this or there's anything else I can do for you. I'll be standing by for your response. Take care, abigail.
