I cannot see any options to submit a final payroll. We no longer have employees and I need to submit a final submission but I don't get any options on the submission form. Has anyone ever managed to do this and how please.
Hello Emma111,
Welcome to the Community page,
In order to help answer your question which payroll are you using, is it standard payroll or advanced payroll.
Hi it is standard payroll thankd
It is standard payroll thanks
We can submit the final payroll the usual way, @Emma111. I’ll walk you through the process and assist you with closing the PAYE scheme.
Since this is your final payroll, you can directly notify HMRC about this. In QuickBooks, we'll notify you that it's on your final payroll for the tax year.
You can process the payroll as normal and select Save & Submit. You’ll need to file your Full Payment Submission (FPS) to HMRC. You can do so in the FPS submission page or follow these steps:
Once done, you’ll receive a confirmation email from HMRC that your submission has been accepted. See this article to learn more: Submit FPS to HMRC in QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll.
If you’ll want to close your Standard payroll scheme, I'd recommend using HMRC's Basic PAYE Tools. This will allow you to perform most payroll tasks, including working out the tax and National Insurance for your employees and sending this information to HMRC.
I’ve included this reference to help you manage your payroll settings and save reports: QuickBooks Online Standard Payroll hub.
I'll lend a hand again if you have more payroll questions or any other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'll also take a moment to listen if you have further clarifications regarding your payroll data in QuickBooks Online. Stay safe.
Not much point having quickbooks payroll if I need to download HMRC version to close it down anyway then is there.
I have actually done this today and downloaded HMRC service rather than be waiting but it should be avaliable to do through quickbooks, it's a service that's paid for that isn't upto the job.
Basically paid for software to do a job and then had to get other software to actually do the job! In the meantime Quickbooks is promoting itself for ease of use for non accounting people. An hour long chat with an expert yesterday was not easy. It also contained some very incorrect and false information that may have resulted in fines from HMRC, had I not been knowledgeable on the subject.
Hello Emma111, we appreciate the feedback given on this post about the payroll in Quickbooks and we will be sure to pass it on.
I have looked at so many threads about Quickbooks rip-off refusal to allow users to stop PAYE through Standard Payroll. I now have to use the HMRC Tool. I will cancel my Quickbooks now.
Hi Karlshah, we're sorry to hear that you're thinking of leaving due to this. We appreciate it can be an inconvenience running the final payroll using HMRC's Basic Tools, and we've passed this on as a development point for consideration with our team.
