Hey there, @charlottegriffit. It's important to ensure we get a copy of all our records.
As mentioned, being able to back up your file in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) is unavailable. I'd suggest exporting your transactions, miles, and taxes. This way, it can be saved, stored, and transferred digitally if needed.
Follow these instructions:
Export Transactions
- To export all transactions that have been added to QuickBooks, click on Transactions on the left navigation pane.
- You can choose the transactions you need to export using the Type, Account, and Tax Year filters.
- Once you've selected what you need, click on the Download icon located to the right of the filters.
Export Miles
- To export all mileage entered, click on Mileage on the left navigation pane.
- You can choose the miles you need to export using the Type, Tax Year, and Vehicle filters.
- Once you've selected what you need, click on the Download icon located to the right of the filters.
Export Taxes
- To export information about your taxes, click on Reports on the left navigation pane.
- Here you can choose to download your profit and loss report, receipts that you've collected for your business, tax summary, and tax details.
- Choose the period you want to export using the filter.
- Then, click on the Download hyperlink. If the Download hyperlink is not visible, click on the dropdown arrow, then choose Download.
Additionally, I've added here some resources about some How do I questions in QBSE for your future reference:
